Duties
" L# N# Y P' B5 j1 Y3 g, V/ {" J. ^' U3 a
* Provides technical support and husbandry of the Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer (TIMS) Laboratory9 a$ X! v6 k2 ^9 \
* Performs isotopic analyses on a broad spectrum of chemical elements, including Pb, Os, Nd, Sr) Y$ Z& c8 G u
* Completes routine maintenance on the TIMS and auxiliary equipment, such as vacuum pumps
' U5 z: p0 t3 ]+ H4 S * Performs data compilation, analysis and data reduction calculations+ C9 z0 t9 X; Y5 H- Q
* Trains users on the mass spectrometer and reduction calculations5 r% c- y. ~/ E g

Qualifications

2 x0 P' L+ Z2 s& L# W9 K * Technical diploma in Physical Sciences, preferably Geological Sciences or equivalent; BSc in Geology or Chemistry is preferred
[7 n, v$ k( l' w( Y * Specialized training on thermal ionization mass spectrometers, geochemical analyses, and instrumentation
( j F( P5 ~6 V, x6 C * Experience in an established research laboratory with demonstrated knowledge of lab safety regulations and procedures including general lab hygiene and specific safety protocols for thermal ionization mass spectrometers4 S6 @8 `5 V9 X5 n$ e' z3 I
* WHMIS training* Q, e+ `3 j& ?4 z
* Computer competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and programming experience would be an asset" t! P$ x! E3 |; Z5 q5 A
