This fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations.
" p" _ m! i4 tEligibility Criteria
# ` s: @2 ^ Y; z% ?- Q! d# GAll potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria:
" U4 `! _; c2 }* { x* y# s•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less5 q! T) x. @# [
•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education
' i6 a [+ g2 X$ G# O) C4 |•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English) ]6 l9 V8 I7 M2 f/ T; u
•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada
J! u, f+ Y& \5 D& k# _! o# E- t•No prior Canadian work experience in their field3 G' j D U1 `3 k- r; d/ R- R
•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less- u, Q4 {3 n8 k( i; p6 P
•Be eligible to work in Canada
3 z1 k4 {9 I" N, v2 m8 j2 N•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop

•Be motivated to participate and be open to learning

The maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months. This works out to approximately one and a half hours per week.
