Is it easy to be broken down?

; J0 @, y/ f$ V3 L' o( C/ HNo, it breaks down slowly because of its high C:N. It makes a very attractive mulch as well, so if you have a lot of it I suggest spreading it on top of autumn leaves around trees or shrubs, or at the back of the bed where weeding is a chore.

Spruce needles are another matter - because they are thicker, and have a pointy end, they can poke you as you spread your compost - wear gloves and you will be fine.5 t% L5 k) z$ b+ Y* H# G# t, j4 s
