In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
7 V4 A, n( D! O, h7 C+ M3 n' ^Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
! c* P' z9 I% D% ?& h6 RAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. 6 Q3 O% B0 P m3 ]
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service. + V) G. l4 u2 G- l
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
1 ]4 x/ h7 c+ v7 T" r: fMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. " ~* ~+ `3 g/ j) l, }: U8 U
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
8 m. ~$ @2 {" }8 c9 @5 tEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. ) O. D# G+ {; N6 `' c( \
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. 4 v, y& Y: Z7 A- o' N, e) `0 m
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
) |1 @) z% t, ^# K5 ?/ j0 m W QIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.

Qualifications ! Z) h* e) Y; q2 f+ Z0 [6 c
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
3 P2 L4 p7 n: `( h; N D# ]Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
; ]8 m F, K5 N& NPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
/ E2 T" {. u! @) R9 Z/ t A: vPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. ' h) ~0 v6 n- E$ x2 V8 g
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. d5 S: O' J/ H e7 J' |# u$ t5 E
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
