Responsibilities ( {- e0 S8 h8 b; J* O( w; U+ t. _
In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. ; ?1 P! J' J: X% p) |0 b. J5 z4 p
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. ) k) m! \1 ]4 `3 h% W0 V4 c
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. 2 ?4 b b0 N5 Z5 D( X' G
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
3 l2 U) A' z$ G- W& W2 |: AMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. ; L2 [' t q$ x$ e4 J
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. 9 a" x$ |' h0 n1 U
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. . W0 Q+ i+ |% V- [
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
* a6 O: V- m) |1 TDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
) I4 n: q, W, r0 H$ Y+ _Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. 1 f& X7 J$ \! B7 y# C- O
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. + }8 d" \- e5 O
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

" S! D7 }+ n! f1 PA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
4 r3 o! V" i3 x; G- ~Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. 3 e- T+ F( t- S2 p
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. 1 @; B" O! Y- b: W
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. 1 }9 x, T0 x' V* r1 {3 O
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. * m& ^ `5 G: b& ?1 `
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. 7 b- X5 p7 ~0 ]# q: M4 g
