Responsibilities
, M `6 v" a% }4 E+ DIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
8 H5 u. Z0 ~, _8 d6 N, m+ Y3 }Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. ' z) L1 \; m7 V2 i3 g+ c" ^
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
' D* v2 u% G5 C) bOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. 5 U1 ?/ Z' x; g+ o V
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
( j. I; x' }/ y, y/ m8 lMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
! f2 S8 P2 i" U) G3 C6 E& s( KExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. $ J1 o: r2 A1 K, m
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. / I% i7 l' v; P1 y, S
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
5 t) S' W8 ]2 |Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
- c. l7 L2 y- kIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.

Qualifications
1 v( q6 @5 J+ l- A6 M9 {A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
; Q' S" s3 e7 s9 `3 O4 U4 Q }9 k0 OPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. ; w d' B M. R4 R9 {# o5 ~' H
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
) `5 V! a* g2 o% B( S0 lPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. 6 l- u# j* u1 y/ u' l. O7 j
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. + q- a) o" }$ f; a1 N- Q/ o2 x
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
