Responsibilities
7 k! u) H9 d1 G$ I) m* ^/ C7 d) xIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. ) m8 ?( h: r2 }& n
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. ) w& m: ?. i2 s2 a% u
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
/ T4 c( V( B' _/ M# H- b, dOversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
: i3 l2 q. D- \& h |: tMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. # I" ^0 @$ f a" B7 g2 b
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. * h; i# E8 L- B- L( Q$ V
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
) p) [+ k+ \+ H& f- |) uEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
( A4 U% m: r* w9 Y( oDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. % q! n. N L" V' p
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.

" l3 G% u2 S: F: kEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. 4 q( J3 V" e7 C( r7 {# P6 ~ R" O( p
Qualifications
% P" W* \4 |# }7 G8 J" _A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. , y; _& u9 Q& j& Y3 E) u0 ]
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
* g3 [* s7 g4 jPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. 4 a- |5 ~" F! {9 W, {8 R
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. - M# N4 V1 T; r" _9 t9 K
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. ) P* V1 E7 x% Q& U
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. * A+ `3 _2 R7 _ Y: O
