Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and ' a( a8 ?7 K @ M; X
execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
1 i) _# }* b3 R, M" U1 @; d! {the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
$ r! T- ^8 P: H" Y2 z( B7 A0 jthe Board of Directors;
) A. q* z. q8 `9 B• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 1 v6 n. [ [* u% t" }5 R; m7 G
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to ) L+ I. v# s# T5 u( q
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 9 O8 F+ W2 D, f% `
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
! H3 K. K+ r, }& |! y+ |" A% _0 Sobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 5 D5 J/ E; Z* s

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
% p8 f( N6 ^$ Q0 |• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion # s+ J- c; l& j v
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; & w+ d" _5 i" V; }6 B0 R) [
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
~4 N5 [( d- bchanging needs of the organization and community;
, d1 K& [' p2 N( D• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
0 O+ x; a9 o ~4 t2 J) ~, O. T, i# Ncommitments;
8 O; E/ Y! N4 s9 E8 u J1 w9 A• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; / a4 ^& ?4 m* Q
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
# O+ q# ]" V1 fselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
7 _4 l$ [ m* _. j3 B• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 5 K2 w1 I9 i7 j# O U1 J! o& ]
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to & r( b& p9 ^- \+ ]
effectively and positively represent the association;

& `) Z5 k: D' I) i• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 3 T' Y3 u4 _1 }% ~) K3 }; E
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
! o2 y3 ?. B" q; i5 O( i1 u• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
& m9 H7 |3 {3 o: F3 [performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
, e% s1 a5 Z& F9 u/ ~: Othe forthcoming year;
! F! Y* ]. A6 @: m4 b3 s Q @• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 3 Z j% i9 R0 n' f- J
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

0 W7 M# v3 }9 O1 ]. K• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience
" C3 A! U+ M+ O. Q. F @• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 5 h+ m' x- Y' g
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation " Z3 y L" C3 i4 M7 ?4 r
abilities; 8 d* N; G6 \7 |# U. e4 O
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
& s: n" ?! X7 J% r$ N5 z- V" w" v$ yNetworking and Fundraising; ) f+ b2 p/ @0 i5 q+ X- W/ c
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
2 ], w1 ^# k1 X: u! hand financial statements; and
1 C. u& z$ G( A- I: V' T• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women + M2 o. ]6 _8 p$ J; O1 F" h
centered perspective.
