Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and ( L! g5 I/ k9 D: E( a: J f6 v
execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include: 7 z" j5 J: i- R* t* K# o3 M

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of " j" d* l3 k7 g, Z
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 6 {, ^% S4 n e8 i
the Board of Directors;
9 i/ B5 c- N6 T$ C• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 5 f0 {8 W9 e7 V. h: X. E1 ~
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
3 k! u, a8 X+ l. T6 z9 Oenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
) e X2 m4 ~1 j/ F/ ]+ W" a• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
3 ]' [. y$ k0 a8 uobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
; Z- {6 g# Z: v: h) gthe board;
: [* q9 `, P6 W) K• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
) m/ B1 i5 a* ^$ r1 F• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
, A7 ^, r) K9 L; p0 K/ Z7 I3 Gthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 7 M+ J }* t8 h0 `+ w1 C* q
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 8 o6 I- [5 b* d4 `& ^* |3 D7 ]
changing needs of the organization and community; 3 H: O4 f2 O9 g. a8 p; P+ x
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
p$ F) M8 j( H. |% ycommitments;
3 `, z3 _- u2 V' A6 n• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; ; Z7 i& i1 f5 G7 O$ U, J
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
3 T% B$ `. e$ r, K5 M/ f! Dselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
" p; Q$ ]! \- Y; G9 i• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; % @9 i0 u% Q- @( r& x
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
, m0 Z" }8 w; X3 E, Z, q" y5 leffectively and positively represent the association;

. N" C$ C6 ~+ y7 T4 X• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
g, j, `/ t7 Mthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
4 f3 {) a8 Y2 H& f" a( S- u. B' N• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
8 V0 o+ I, O aperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 9 J7 B+ K& F* h1 W: q+ F9 k: {
the forthcoming year; % k3 T" e9 j2 b
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical ; J6 f( i$ D% W2 G* ?
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 2 }% \2 J7 [8 {1 v3 K# d8 R- F
YWCA Canada; and
) D5 a, _" i: R5 r) Q• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Experience
3 B- @, [& d3 ?: ]; u• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
+ r; `: H* P I. D4 P• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
& S" @: H! n; I- wabilities;
8 D! K/ i9 N$ P0 [4 o. m• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, ! |! Q) `3 c; n1 D
Networking and Fundraising;
) p, W. ], e7 I) O• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
9 S3 o3 b+ Z3 c& k. J5 Sand financial statements; and 2 b" U; [. k; N6 A" l
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women % Q& C% A o3 w; i
