What Makes Christmas Magical

are distant memories. Hearty indulgence in the many foods shared at Christmas

4 D3 d+ G( ~: w3 X0 rpleasant thought to start the New Year carrying any extra pounds. So why then
3 j; i" v3 Q8 v7 r% H6 beat yourself into a resolution to 'take off a few extra pounds' if you can 4 }7 R5 a6 O* r3 U9 n
smartly avoid it?4 K8 }' s1 A$ k) W4 A
?Whether it's sharing cookies and candies at work, or having an evening out
7 F5 Q! r: N4 o+ m3 g& ]at a party or dinner, you can have Christmas food and enjoy it. While you seem : I9 B! p! P) M- b0 E$ h- U
to be eating heartily with a smile, the key is to have a secret strategy of ( r: K8 E$ y0 `0 A
moderation. It involves sticking to a plan that can be called 'Eating on a + b4 g5 C% @2 b  K1 U2 j4 g
Budget.'

be something like, 'Uh..no..bah humbug' all the time that some Christmas goodies ) _8 a: ]8 J; |! F4 O$ X$ T
are offered. It will seem as if you aren't in the spirit of the holidays , `7 i# w  o! N- u' C
especially since at that time of year everyone is usually in a festive and more
: n5 g% O' i# S, ~. q" d/ {relaxed mood, and the pace at work is usually slower.
: r5 ]9 i: K0 v; N- [+ ~( ^, V?A practical way to partake in Christmas goodies, for example, is to " o; u) y, V! z5 P: j4 A6 h+ T/ G
substitute some holiday cookies for say the bagel that you usually have with & L8 E% n2 j4 g% B4 S3 S
breakfast or for a mid-morning snack. And instead of just taking one cookie,
. N% N) l9 N! `- X3 Dfrom the platter, which is noticeable and likely will encourage a colleague to
. o0 u, D! `& B9 Mtell you to have more, take three instead. That's where the plan can come into
" H$ r! c( r' z. T7 }( _play. You can then enjoy the cookies over two or more hours,ed hardy hoodies, because nobody will
/ B$ d5 r! q2 c2 e8 g- k' _) Abe watching how you really eat. You can always have a few candies, one cookie or , m% x: t5 p& u3 t% c: E
a cookie and a half by your desk and that way it will seem as if you are 7 V5 e3 {# Q8 f4 U+ i
heartily enjoying the holiday treats.?
$ \: Z5 j5 B5 ]! k) K?Another strategy is to bring - bake or buy - low calorie Christmas cookies ( ]" S+ s  j3 n8 k
and candies to work to counteract others that are being offered. Since eating
! @/ K/ D4 m  x1 v$ A. ~$ Q3 ihealthy is highly encouraged, health-conscious cookies will not be looked down 8 l3 X5 Y" J& W/ z
upon so long as they taste great. A box of sugar-free Christmas chocolate 4 S1 ^8 ?; s# L6 A, p  w
candies for example will look just as delightful as regular chocolate candies.
3 N2 n3 ?% r' T: j: X( ]It's interesting to note that in a poll sponsored by the National Confectioners

For an occasion such as a Christmas party or a dinner, including Christmas
% C  a, s0 Q% o7 ADinner, where larger quantities and selection of food is available, the 'Eating
7 ?" J& _) {$ f7 \1 I+ a# t6 @2 i7 Won a Budget' plan means that serving portions and the choice of food selected + y# }2 Y+ {4 ]; F9 ?. H' k  h
should be carefully watched. 3 j) D' N+ D! {$ U- |
At a party where more desserts and sweets are likely to be available, a few of
6 l$ m3 G0 m4 ~. n- lthe selections can be sampled. If the urge to try everything can't be resisted, 3 X: C& u3 `7 k/ m1 r- N$ A5 w
then do so, but then second helpings have to be severely limited. The same is + y* n+ i5 R" s# I; d4 p5 P% }
somewhat true for Christmas Dinners. One big difference is that the food served 1 {5 W3 Z! Z4 ]. f( d! k
during Christmas Dinner will be heavier, so by selecting portions wisely,air max tn, one * t1 m- L2 S! A9 ^! @4 X( {. b. x2 }3 K
can always say truthfully that the stomach is full. & H3 }5 _2 X! M

from food and your soul full of joy from sharing another memorable holiday % ~1 ~& q+ r& j  M- S/ D
tradition with family, friends and loved ones.
