The Organization: SAGE is a multi-service agency that has provided services to older people in Edmonton and area since 1970. Its mission is to enhance the quality of life of older people. : e. c9 w/ B2 o5 }" t
: n P8 C; P: c) n3 N, u2 q9 _This position is responsible for assessing client needs and short term one on one counseling to individuals addressing the social/emotional needs of older adults & their families. The position will focus on assisting seniors or their families, who make contact with SAGE, to articulate/prioritize their needs, deal with issues they are facing and to make informed referrals as necessary., L( i9 ]! Z: q* _0 g# G) p
8 g5 a2 w8 C/ @" wAs a professional social worker, the incumbent will adhere to the Social Work Code of Ethics as published in the A.C.S.W., and be a member in good standing of the AARSW. This position will work with the Housing Coordinator, Seniors Social Worker, Safe House Coordinators, the Full House Coordinator and volunteers on the reception/telephone lines.3 B' E* {) R7 E& c
$ |/ g$ x% O2 F, `. t& T4 NThe Ideal Candidate: is a Registered Social Worker, College or University prepared, holds a valid First Aid certificate, is able to provide a Criminal Record Check that is free of criminal convictions, has (and be prepared to use) a vehicle/possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license, and is able to obtain $1 million auto liability insurance with a rider that permits transportation of clients.

He/she has experience in community-based case management/assessment, is able to demonstrate a good understanding of the needs of older people, is knowledgeable of community resources & services related to older people, is self-motivated/able to work as part of a team, has excellent communication & problem solving skills, has familiarity/experience with issues related to senior volunteers and is computer literate especially with MS Word & Excel.6 a( v* [! ^) L! e8 U4 p
