Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or

provide supplemental support to newcomers who have complex needs.

/ m0 R1 K9 l3 W6 l" v Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services. ; h h5 \, K! o" R" [. |+ @- l
The position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, * d, M, p8 w" d7 @' z$ h) r
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social
4 l4 F3 ^- o$ E+ d! A" u- }Worker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as 9 u0 [7 b6 Y3 l0 [. O( z, o1 \! |
needed. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for ! {6 Y* W' n# r. [6 _- L: z0 \$ h
newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial
, Z7 D' K9 L8 Aassessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-7 r B% w" i3 x

Providing holistic information or advocacy services for immigrants and refugees served.

Provide intake, needs assessment, referral, case plans and action plans to support

Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers.

Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and 3 ~% p# M g4 H" o" O, a
experience in Social Work or related human service fields. 8 `8 k% E1 r' R8 x G$ N
Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family
+ }! m; g E4 c. N' W$ g' Csupport needs & T# D' _; L; L" `$ T, q) T$ _: Z$ o
Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications
3 [4 l' R% d- v Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages

Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience working in a related field + _* ?' D6 f0 V5 U! Q( b" c
