Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or ; j* m' [0 {4 d% ~# R0 d% ~+ g- p
community cultural brokers from New Canadian Health Network partner organizations to

The position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, ( f+ T7 R4 u0 ]3 I* K& c
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social
d2 h! T6 R4 C# l8 s* jWorker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as
' [2 B" W6 t0 T }6 F/ ^0 Cneeded. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for
; ^( n! B& j/ rnewcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial ; t5 _. _& d6 F# o _! i% G
assessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-
$ ~* O4 H* J; _1 L/ z( {; K- X& u D4 ucentered delivery model. 8 S( M0 I8 W# U! I: o, C' A+ c

Developing of social networks and community supports for newcomer families.

newcomers in settling and fully participating in community.

experience in Social Work or related human service fields. ! K7 S) s; G, H P( e
Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family
! O5 w( z4 b0 _9 l" Z2 k, gsupport needs

Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages * O" l* S5 M2 g
