FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

, b; |4 v2 V2 }# D# L& n• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
! n! c5 m7 i- n8 U( Z& {& r1 x! ?• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
1 U  N+ m7 m2 Z2 u# H• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
! @8 y4 I5 a" ^# V2 `• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
+ Z% w. a* ?0 K: A• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
; m3 l. `) I+ ?2 G) V! }• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
% m1 G+ \8 a9 t1 M. x9 `- G• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
# x, D" i: u+ i: u• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

" @6 ~; a3 [! U$ K: w8 ~  b$ l# O% sSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
: k7 m* K* B$ R7 v• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
. ~2 a1 c$ M! |, X: h3 R9 n• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
) ?* s& ]% J! L8 D5 T• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
4 P! V1 b- s3 J- M: K3 X• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
2 M) W+ {" U  l% W4 Z: e• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
2 Q- N- ?# j  A& C• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
. l" o& D6 o8 {3 u& I+ @• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
