FUNCTION:
3 c7 y! Z2 `9 d8 _! oAs a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
  b3 M5 ~! P7 Y; S; v• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
6 r; J- s. E' B7 F3 C/ ^• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
' ]3 ~3 f) Z: K, H9 e' \Bi /Reporting/ETL
* E4 C/ X* W) y0 F& j, ^0 p9 h8 `• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
- q% C5 Q' W; Z  V• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
( U+ k& k. O2 i  Z) e2 j- D• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
0 f9 x; m- c3 b0 S9 G6 {5 f• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

( [$ C8 Z, k# F3 I' B; r! r/ Q) `SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
( o3 Q8 |+ H; e9 r( z% ~7 R• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
9 I# g) U0 ~; U% M; O• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
1 p" X1 r. N4 A2 I* p7 R• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
& B9 Z& k3 H0 i0 H3 g5 [; H• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
1 V$ X/ u! [5 V. T• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
9 h' Z3 k- U& |* c6 F: ?• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
