Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

6 _  V' _( z. d$ p& }& ~0 b1 s Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
# ~) G, h$ q- r# z! g Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
 Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
 Completing required paperwork.
6 L( q! B3 f  t% }# v! J6 R Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
  v+ K/ a* W+ ]) V' R; i7 s( w Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
- L! ^! |2 w, P/ f: z; N5 y% x* V Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
+ X9 E- m7 Q6 }. q% p, z, s Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
7 E) P' w1 ~! H: w+ v# P( o Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
4 ]3 i  i6 i5 Y% \ Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
 Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.


Qualifications:

9 q! b; y! M: C Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
  h7 e6 w2 _, S1 T* k1 N Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
 Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
 Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
 Knowledge of community resources.
 Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
 Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

Position:
6 }) ~# h5 c8 y. b& aThis is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
starting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
