Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

 Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
& }* z! ^% S# C) B4 }9 y- |6 }. c Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
) I( e4 ~2 D# Y/ e" y# \, c0 i4 ` Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
1 I/ T" H3 E& Q3 }9 Z Completing required paperwork.
 Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
9 L+ k! {7 ]* k4 J; h Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
, p5 u8 P  X/ M# I+ p Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
 Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
 Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
/ b/ P+ _+ [" v6 j1 Z Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
7 v( p; m! }; g5 ^ Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.


! ~( J3 W, m! ~- oQualifications:

* W; n$ H/ W8 c, A' k. P4 _ Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
 Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
! j+ Y* d& W* ?8 J7 M" A$ D Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
2 A3 p$ `( R: S. [ Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
 Knowledge of community resources.
# f$ b# n- k) Q0 }: v Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
; F) |5 p$ ?- ^1 Y- e% W% p9 _ Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

( }( Z1 s' D2 bPosition:
This is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
4 u% T. p$ L0 N3 n, i1 ustarting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
