Responsibilities
 Complete comprehensive intake and needs assessment process and develop referral and case plans to support newcomers in fully settling and participating in the community  
 Continue to follow-up with newcomers, EMCN staff and other service providers to ensure newcomers’ needs are met     
 Provide holistic counselling to individuals and families, including hands-on support with accessing resources and resolving difficult issues
% r2 t, v. j6 m3 j; L8 e5 W# u, Z Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers
0 b8 z. N- N( r' K5 t7 m Research and maintain current information about programs and resources available in the community
 Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with staff of programs and services in the city and ensure EMCN clients access the most appropriate solutions to meet their needs
$ z# c& m8 @0 ^- b Work as a team with EMCN staff to ensure holistic supports are provided to newcomers.

Qualifications
0 G' B  j) {) d& a( Y: _ Social work degree or diploma
) c- x& v3 o. B2 n6 D! @ Current RSW designation preferred   
 Demonstrated experience with holistic case management and supportive counselling
 Knowledge of and experience in accessing a wide range of programs, services and supports available in the City  
 Ability to effectively listen, assess needs and guide people in a supportive manner
# x. b; N* q! e7 V, V* H: K Sensitivity to cross-cultural issues
 Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
) j/ p! s6 P& e& m' H Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
) a# t4 V0 l/ S* V Ability to perform variety of diverse tasks under time pressure.

EMCN is a community agency that provides a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees. Further information is available at www.emcn.ab.ca.  Salary for the position begins at $34 879. A cost-shared benefits plan, including RRSP, is available.
