Diagnosing diesel engine malfunctions and making indicated repairs
Operating machinery in a safe and effective manner
Providing daily locomotive maintenance that includes changing oil or repairing, replacing, cleaning and adjusting parts
Assembling and starting engines
) J! C! l& d* I6 B2 `5 b" vDiagnosing locomotive component malfunctions
Preparing inspection, work and maintenance reports
Performing other functions as assigned

Good eye-hand coordination

Occasionally lifting weights up to 100 pounds

Using measuring devices and understanding visual displays

& _% ?8 S7 m* j; _2 pVisual acuity and hearing threshold tests are required for this position. Written pre-employment tests to become a Machinist Apprentice are required for this position. Completion of 3-year apprenticeship is required to become a Journeyman Machinist. This position is subject to night, weekend and holiday work hours when needed.
