Position: Outreach Worker

) |7 K& R7 u  b" oJob Description
' o" a+ S3 w- n" d- promote the Centre’s ISP to community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, etc. by in-person presentations, phone or sending relevant information
- promote ISP in various media: newspaper, radio, newsletter, etc.
-  develop or update brochures, pamphlets, information packages, etc. for ISP
- provide support to ISP staff
) s+ h& X: a. e: y" ~& l; Z- recruit new members to the Newcomers Club and maintain existing members
- promote, organize and coordinate the Newcomers Club’s activities
& Z) l4 j( i& _. P- outreach in different areas of the city where new immigrants are concentrated
- attend meetings relevant to ISP and outreach work to advocate issues and concerns of new immigrants
) ?. }+ G7 u/ x" J2 A* x+ u- adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the program’s goals
- fulfill the goals and objectives of ISP as contracted by funder
- report writing, data collection, conduct evaluations, budget management, etc.
- recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with outreach activities
% W/ d! z6 I6 Y$ k- assist with front counter services as needed and assigned
- other duties as assigned

4 O. L' A8 V2 u. O0 V3 j) i- degree/diploma in social work/human services and eligibility to be registered to area of discipline; relevant experience with community services/projects/immigrants will be considered
- knowledge of immigrant issues and concerns, community resources and services available
- experience in working with community groups and community liaison workers
9 Y& V5 x  e9 y- good computer skills using Microsoft and Chinese software
- speak & write Chinese (fluent in Mandarin preferred)
- good interpersonal and people skills
- good organizational and coordination skills
- valid driver’s license

Other
- must undergo security and child welfare check at own expense

- $12/hr for 17.5hours/week, April 18 to March 31, 2007
