T.A.N.G. Youth Program is an educational and activity-based program aiming to equip ' _, `& k, [7 Z+ ~; n" F
Asian youth to make healthy and safe choice. Recreational challenges, volunteering & p0 L- i2 `7 C2 y2 H3 w0 C
opportunities, leadership training, as well as educational sessions on

and Canadian-Asian culture are some of the ways in which this goal is achieved.

 Explore personal interests in arts and recreation

 Develop self-confidence and problem solving skills

Regular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.
$ H8 `9 W% ~$ _) f8 G( P) K; oSummer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily7 X d9 {6 E# l1 P( f$ m: z- t
2 consecutive weeks in August from 9 to 5 p.m. daily2 q5 C- |* [4 _/ H

Who can participate?
2 v/ l4 \0 q% ~6 w: ~% n6 y0 K) L. pAsian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area.

What is the cost of joining the T.A.N.G. program?
9 G( G* N1 g5 G6 O8 ^' DIt is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group.

. w' Q% t- _& _9 m& A4 jVolunteer’s Duties:
( W l5 ~6 `. t* @' E& T [& o5 y: I9 x' Z0 r& S$ J2 l
 Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies 2 Y7 \% b, q+ q0 p) y5 S4 |7 X
 Facilitate and/or coordinate activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development
- G7 M+ e3 I0 z6 U# K4 i Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities
! X; D' A0 C( b Facilitate or assist in small group discussions9 J' U0 T2 u$ g
 Research activities related to the sessions’ topic- k! I& k" K* e) m& S
 Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips
% o) m0 E v3 x, c5 y Assist in program planning$ b) h4 ]3 x' x( @% j7 O% Q
 Be a role model5 p: ]# Q" z% y; i* U! |. m

Volunteer Commitment:

 On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)
) ]$ W9 V# F4 m9 { B. u' o/ c" R0 ] One time volunteers: minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer2 b, D2 @% w* [, O q. S

 Open and willing to initiate and maintain a positive relationship with youth in the program

 Able to work independently with minimum supervision( M3 a/ N4 W/ F2 s2 R
