T.A.N.G. Youth Program is an educational and activity-based program aiming to equip

opportunities, leadership training, as well as educational sessions on 6 g7 N7 l& k7 |* B+ ?2 Q' r8 z
interpersonal skills, anger management, personal development, 9 c6 `- Y7 J& }" E/ G+ Y b
and Canadian-Asian culture are some of the ways in which this goal is achieved.

What will take place in the sessions?

These activities will enable youth to:

Regular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.
- ]1 R3 `! r sSummer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily
5 U1 y$ s0 ]" a L% C$ e, [ 2 consecutive weeks in August from 9 to 5 p.m. daily

5 b' U" a5 J, t) i$ X- Q( eAsian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area./ t& Q1 E5 w8 Z$ ]; k

What is the cost of joining the T.A.N.G. program?7 Q1 n/ W3 {" m9 P/ a
It is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group.% T; h1 R! g' r+ h# T- O
- u; ]* G4 K3 P) q
' l w1 d: n* K# a% K. L/ V! iVolunteer’s Duties:6 ]( F) a3 P8 T) i. C! i% b- P
+ m8 D" P& Y* t7 m0 G Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies
! ^1 j2 _+ G/ e# S: M/ @4 y6 Q% F' Q Facilitate and/or coordinate activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development
" X/ h8 t4 Y( D. k0 T) {1 A* O. r Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities
V2 y. u3 N$ t& R0 Z" I Facilitate or assist in small group discussions' b4 A+ B1 \! ]; t
 Research activities related to the sessions’ topic
+ S2 t3 c0 E( K+ E6 U$ ]* } Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips, c& i: w q: Q }
 Assist in program planning

* C) A/ ]2 F8 w& i& C% X6 U; b' b On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years); N* N9 ]$ X4 w! ]) i
 One time volunteers: minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer

 Mature, patient, organized, willing to take and follow instruction from Program Coordinator

 Value the building on strengths of children, youth and families
