T.A.N.G. Youth Program is an educational and activity-based program aiming to equip & a( y; q2 W* a
Asian youth to make healthy and safe choice. Recreational challenges, volunteering ) C5 F9 `- n* i( s
opportunities, leadership training, as well as educational sessions on
" I! d% G2 D0 E# t. [& x) E4 `interpersonal skills, anger management, personal development, & t: d, F3 d, e8 t, y v; D6 a
and Canadian-Asian culture are some of the ways in which this goal is achieved.

What will take place in the sessions?
- V% l3 `8 A" u6 z7 oEach session presents concepts through interactive activities that encourage active discussion and participation.+ p* i9 Y5 V9 d. K
) C. S) q9 o5 \' j0 r+ w% XThese activities will enable youth to:

 Develop self-confidence and problem solving skills

Regular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.
5 ?" Q, }" e q. ~* {5 @4 dSummer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily9 i: D6 G8 h. Q& x$ H& i
2 consecutive weeks in August from 9 to 5 p.m. daily

Who can participate?; h6 k' T2 ^7 W; A0 w
Asian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area.( R( F; j* }( {* s5 S' f
6 N/ x: q6 L" n' WWhat is the cost of joining the T.A.N.G. program?
: h7 v% s7 r. F. v( ]It is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group.

Volunteer’s Duties:- ~7 v; x+ }1 |, o/ k/ V C
: u2 `$ v2 J" G$ d/ \4 p" Q Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies 7 U e( {3 ?3 g' K
 Facilitate and/or coordinate activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development
, a# x A U( P Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities3 e7 D2 _5 C/ F; h$ ]! F& v* C
 Facilitate or assist in small group discussions
" @/ o7 M+ W' L+ H" L, f Research activities related to the sessions’ topic
) r- A3 `! q0 P9 W Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips

Volunteer Commitment:
3 H$ C) P% r" p # G& `. Q% V1 k8 c2 P" w! n
 On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)& U% l. S) O, Q) f+ \& W/ r2 \
 One time volunteers: minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer

 Mature, patient, organized, willing to take and follow instruction from Program Coordinator

 Able to work independently with minimum supervision
