YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
2 i% U7 G; d. z' qnine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
8 }& O# M4 a0 }' K5 G% JThe YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded
4 V* g% m6 e) L* X; Y, b& A
project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
! n3 U5 U# `+ L" R4 H+ B. k  rThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
8 P! X# Y  X* s, O: |3 z: t: vparticipants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
$ f' q5 ^1 g& C: e  m' }  Zpersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
) U: ~# M  y1 n; }0 wand leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
follow-up once the program is completed.

0 e0 g, F; l8 ?% S2 y/ mVerto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
