3 h3 b6 i6 V0 O# }• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed
- \; A3 `9 S. c4 ~ [4 \7 A9 n3 U• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components
% b \3 I% z: L• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers
7 m( l4 }6 t0 ?" d2 a- I+ K# ~+ H• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams Z, P$ x1 W) b4 c
• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place
9 ^) V5 G9 I5 d( L• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment' i( Z ^7 K5 |; B" p5 `
• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools6 o% U! l# l9 T
• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting
2 z/ N# W' y; i1 h: C) K+ c5 A• Mix paint, blend and match colors
4 K3 U5 @' m# w6 Q2 T. f• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns
. p4 j& M+ W, K; r' `• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs
: Y* a6 i- z0 M4 W* E" Q- W• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation( S' c8 `6 t" q0 N! n
• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling; n* ]' y/ P' B: y& o J
Education and Experience Requirements:% s. }5 Y( V5 `4 Y% Y" S6 i
• Completion of secondary school is required* f I, |7 a9 |) a* w- j- f
• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program
, d1 W" O' @7 l& ^/ S( Oor
/ u, Y6 i" r8 ^8 a" x9 a" YA combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade
0 A; _/ H- t% ~6 R v• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory
