• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed' R2 I9 E) ]/ {+ p0 Q
• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components/ d, A% k0 V' J( X
• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers! P- U, a" H" s5 L
• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams! a0 V2 i2 S, D- j# R) y ^
• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place k8 r' g3 M4 I; V' L7 @7 @
• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment
5 W2 ] r- k) I) O: {1 i `6 h• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools
9 {7 T. K6 W! F5 w. W' j6 p• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting, n/ H1 t; _" @2 R
• Mix paint, blend and match colors
% x& e# c; G; ^• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns
( E2 x u0 L9 j& I+ x• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs
: j! u& M) c/ |0 L8 U# J• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation2 t( `! `8 B4 w5 g F
• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling6 M% L0 I2 T- ?3 K7 A" @5 M
Education and Experience Requirements:
8 `# z0 ^# D% U& y, i1 B7 o• Completion of secondary school is required
$ C- q" Q I( b• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program
7 C8 ^7 o# D6 @8 X6 u: ]" [or
6 z8 _& W" e* \A combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade ( {3 J! F. Z" V1 C, @% h) k* J
• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory + R o, i5 w, K4 P
