• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed0 [ j& J. r" G: Y. |
• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components! k# }/ X7 L7 {. I! n, \
• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers
+ C. Z V; W+ v8 E& V3 v8 p5 n• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams, y0 y2 Q& }0 L, B9 @. A5 Q
• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place+ M' w: H9 {- f+ m/ r' E- c
• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment
$ `; v9 e* w& s9 u: T' N$ C• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools
! i( J1 W. w2 a) E, }% A4 u8 R, f• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting
! o: G, ~! {1 M/ O' V: t# ^; E• Mix paint, blend and match colors5 I" [) b) G$ j
• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns
8 c: ]6 b4 t+ B9 ~# _! G- G• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs8 R q4 l9 h3 T2 W' k3 b+ ]
• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation
2 A' ]$ u5 p4 j0 B1 u9 a! L' @• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling/ p% s$ w. F0 E3 q, u. C
Education and Experience Requirements:& q7 {+ ^8 e0 J
• Completion of secondary school is required
0 ~) U7 L5 n- k) o/ l• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program 1 T: ^/ g! b: O' P
or% S; N4 C) }) d( J4 H& }5 L
A combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade 2 @9 J5 M( |- {9 @
• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory
