CALGARY — A teen girl was taken to Foothills Hospital in potentially life-threatening condition Monday morning after a head-on collision that involved a "complicated extrication" near Chestermere.

% J( O% N1 |4 J8 [8 V5 _8 aAt around 8:30 a.m., RCMP, Chestermere fire crews and Calgary EMS personnel were called to Highway 791 just east of Calgary after a pick-up truck and smaller car crashed head-on, said EMS spokesman Stuart Brideaux.

( q2 h, j1 u7 h6 l& x# Z; Y* oThe female driver in her mid-teens, who was the lone occupant of the small car, sustained serious and potentially life-threatening injuries and needed to be extricated from the vehicle by fire crews.0 W, J" K3 w& k! D3 G

STARS Air Ambulance was called to take the girl to the Foothills Hospital.
