Responsibilities and Tasks7 c7 ~6 w) L3 B7 a$ O! Q
$ a/ G+ G7 {- N/ m9 F* S, L
- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment ! K) f D, `9 R
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements! L. i/ U. r: v: g5 |' P
- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
0 f# W! [8 b4 Y7 i6 l4 q! @& W8 m. x- Select type and size of pipe required
5 z( B9 U$ u% T0 c6 S2 m- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools; x9 @9 [. z6 C0 o4 I
- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
" x& k, `' w6 C' g; G- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
8 d# L" w1 @* v4 ~- Test system for leaks using testing equipment
6 A8 T2 B& V) r4 q- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system, l3 E, F, y2 g) H: |, m7 F- d7 b
- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system1 T% _1 Q& h% K5 J4 S
- Actively participate in the Iyinisiw safety program1 u$ G- A. d4 V* n
- Other tasks related to pipefitting as may be required during the course of business6 q+ t6 H8 Z7 F

- Completion of secondary school' `6 F0 Y* a0 p H
- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation
, v n+ O% v- X/ ]5 W( F9 ^- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals3 z& C& Q' G) {* A% g7 ]4 b* X
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence# a6 `# Q4 q8 X/ m& g$ T
- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset

- Valid drivers’ license is an asset
