" X5 f* ~3 a) ~) Y+ v) J- L- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment : {' b) g3 p" M s1 S
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements
; H g7 ~7 B( Z2 H, S! q d+ D+ u7 l- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
) h# n i; o3 o) ?7 @. J- Select type and size of pipe required
5 K$ |* @; N1 W$ o* t1 w- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools$ b! w7 i- f$ F7 X i. f, `0 j8 C6 S
- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
- S, t* q$ T" E* A4 Y0 K- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
& A5 b% h7 K4 l O5 C1 w8 Q1 {- Test system for leaks using testing equipment! l2 J" H9 W" B
- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system
, _3 x$ w7 X" R- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system
- o; W `& P! _- Actively participate in the Iyinisiw safety program

- Completion of secondary school2 g) n/ F1 u) N- m% y
- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation
( q+ t: n3 u* G* l$ a3 H- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
