' j( V) ]" K; t8 M& V4 I. U+ B  `: V5 n
$ h- J* ]7 Q& ^4 I3 p' B        1. I couldn't care less. ; T: n) {, p9 K5 t" f  G$ e

I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. K1 e% @% Z5 O" k

' g  k8 n8 T, Z; A' W* `( O1 N& c1 d. m  人家如果问: What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?) 3 @# W! K& x6 Y7 N2 n
. r; C/ e2 G7 ?2 {+ J1 u
9 I+ w- j6 u1 Q( p2 G: k
' {, u, H' |- U8 @  How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?)
# v) c; _1 P$ z
7 r7 o! @1 j% B2 |* I5 _  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!)
4 M1 l5 G3 L4 r: C  q0 g$ o1 a  ?$ E$ x+ ~
6 |8 d& g) g: `- {# L, y9 G6 c: ~2 N; p$ A
  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪)
' q9 p3 d% k- a0 ]% e7 g3 i& X; k, H* v( U- c& q* f
Yes, you do(care).
. g3 V5 n( a2 i( ^
# z0 g8 J- Q" g  至于 I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理: % d' r. t' j7 i  n

1 u2 F5 ~- L6 k' n4 K7 x1 t  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意) - i1 z: M2 Y$ |) I
: q5 h" x& p  ]
  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴)
/ q/ }- l1 N5 ~' Y2 H6 _$ l7 @. T0 k0 }
  I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right. 5 ~" ^. w4 h" Q

# k  P- l1 |8 Q& e3 {- v& x8 [! O9 n! ]
  I couldn't be more wrong.
& I4 o" \/ r5 Y1 I" O1 l
  F- Q1 w# W- ^, x. Q5 W( p2 t1 Z!
I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少)
+ G! }% h/ E" g8 S, R
9 B  }2 L7 h* I% p" |  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。)
3 u+ Y8 B: J0 I# d' `- ]
) L2 {6 {4 w! h, |  2. No bones about it.
4 s9 g( E  B* p( v+ V2 Y9 v( \5 h; v3 b" J" ]
  意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如:
- F' v$ B# d$ s5 ?
4 U6 v  D& C. b1 T  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮)
, D* E9 G. N9 C/ @
9 a0 j# p9 {8 N) v! s$ H% {  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。)
( `6 \7 g3 k3 I; K! g0 b% g8 O% r" B0 @0 q0 F* Z+ N
  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法)
* Z& L" K! q: s# L4 X
! z6 L7 i+ s8 g4 n/ d  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了)
& [3 t+ [$ `1 l2 |# x$ `& P# Y! X8 O& h$ p; [  n4 @! T
  3. take it on me!
+ ~* i& ]. ]/ c5 r& `' V8 R5 D/ q9 C
  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如: 4 `* a5 x3 ]# e' m& e3 H

5 E% y1 ]" r* s* I# J  Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (这是来自英国的糖果,尝一个吧!) (one = candy) 1 l8 u( g- L" p% [

$ j; r& v1 |8 ~$ P1 C. |' H  The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me." (餐馆老板对我说:“尝尝我的甜点吧!”)
& c4 U% H1 h4 q/ _+ d, u/ \. |% ~& Z( D8 b* ~* }: m4 V
  Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!)
( P" A# U- @! S6 C5 R# Z5 X' Y2 w2 `2 ^. p
  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.)   U( n9 y2 m) I

0 C. g" }3 y% @; G" j  4. I am from Missouri.
  x+ R$ G# U3 i- X, @* C& U
1 h7 R: W& x: b6 I( `; N  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。
$ h; U9 W- C1 q
$ F! y3 P0 q/ z2 V/ i$ ^# J# J
. O# c% C1 R" y' K1 z  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri. (他是来自密苏里州,所以不容易说服他。) # x  j  w0 m% C0 o7 B
' ]: v; D2 K8 `7 C4 E. C8 \& W( @7 c
  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.) 3 ^7 v7 j" `* b* v
# w! U1 B4 A# G- \( f
  We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown. ; i+ [: i+ s; F+ E! p; E1 S

( {/ o8 f- G5 c2 b  As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri.
