There is something to do with the society where the kid grows up. In China, since the kid has a chance to go back to the other parent and grandparents on the other parent side and is 'educated' by relatives, other neighbours and so on, the kid might think a biological parent is more important and beloved than a step parent. But here in Canada, not many people surrounding the kid would like to say so and neither does the kid have much chance to stay with relatives.

In your friend's case, if she is the only legal guardian, this is the best! Plus, the little kid is just 2 years old, the kid will forget everything that happen during her first four or five years./ _: G/ V* k% b: {, E! `% T
' f0 A: p% V" s) H! d" @A reminder: If your friend's ex-husband is also a legal guardian, the court order may not allow your friend together with her daughter to move to another city far away from Vancouver without the approval from her ex-husband because it may stop the kid's father from seeing the kid regularly. |
