not do any of the following:
5 P" ]' h. Z0 B(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor7 w1 [6 ~ t r: F% }5 q5 v
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
- {) a; [1 {0 x) w" o. r(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
; N8 m5 f3 S3 G& z8 qvehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
' n: `5 G, X5 }3 K' j# m' E(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,
; ?9 \4 F* ?0 [3 L' V& Dpermit another person
' [, Z) l9 |1 I/ b(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or, M6 {' N* \; F" }, x- x
(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,
7 T' l3 x7 V( Kunless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;* l+ S$ P# H3 ^6 i/ G5 l
(d) give or lend a financial
; z. T7 q" \. rresponsibility card or a copy of it
% U1 U: z. A4 K) p3 n- a4 u0 F; @to a person not entitled to have that financial
8 o+ r9 H( i5 ^% f' w5 g5 ~responsibility card or copy.

If a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway
2 S, \" A B! K" u3 Vwithout the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
# }) J9 `7 y# r6 l; t7 bthe vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection4 b. K! o/ \: m& s l8 Z
(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is: E0 l( E S: `- h: B, Q
not an insured motor vehicle.
7 C* b0 E `7 L& c5 B(2)
8 d% Z3 a* Y5 z$ u; pIf the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this
+ _9 g: o8 c5 [) TAct, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this
5 O" {+ X; }# a/ H$ r0 G( Xsection.
2 U/ p2 _8 S; g/ |/ Q(3)8 l2 m6 }* @# b* p6 z) U2 s- J
Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a$ z8 i5 x% [ ^; @ l- E! E
financial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the# u. d$ x, l J
Insurance Act
, l Y3 p) z& i4 u1 jby an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy3 V$ u. ^( k( G- ], ~
outside Alberta.
- d( e" P! [* O5 s ?/ M(4)4 W3 h0 K5 `/ o! P
A person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection% {( W j8 e3 [9 }
(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,
5 T% r$ `$ M6 E(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500
& |! s% r! J1 L2 Hand not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to1 t6 K) \1 l' p" c
imprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not
$ N8 p; _) M3 `! Mmore than 6 months
3 B2 e; S; h. }4 z! [* O" m- `. t- U- T
Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
