Newcomers are being offered some help when shopping for a home in Edmonton’s tight housing market.
0 x( i7 [7 N+ PImmigrant women and their families can now access a “household toolkit” crafted by a local service group for new immigrant families, through real estate agents. 6 i$ p3 Z' Y4 Z% Q( v
$ I* s6 q) z! M" W+ `/ N, qIn the tool kit are 75 common hand tools – like a hammer and screwdriver – as well a book on how to buy a home, a home maintenance schedule and other items.

% B; n/ X( X. z# e4 F: y" O“The tools are a symbol of hope for people trying to build new lives in Edmonton,” said Madeline Sarafinchan, president of the Edmonton Real Estate Board.

The program was announced by a group called Changing Together… A Centre for Immigrant Women. $ S" i" f) h ^2 J: Q
