Edmonton home builders say they are working non-stop to meet a demand they haven’t seen since the boom of 2005.

Builders started construction on 468 new single detached homes last month, a 34 per cent increase from August 2013.7 y, t) L- k3 D- i0 T

The increased demand is due to strong job and population growth, according to Christina Butchart, senior analyst with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.. O" B9 r' a; x. F

“If you look at the number of people who are moving into Edmonton, it’s record high levels so that’s contributing to that expanding demand,” she said.
