7 b. d% m- o/ V- ], e; oBuilders started construction on 468 new single detached homes last month, a 34 per cent increase from August 2013.

5 g4 p- j7 o% a# B* BThe increased demand is due to strong job and population growth, according to Christina Butchart, senior analyst with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.+ v1 f4 b* i' A% p; ^+ l
0 I' K, n* q& Q1 n$ K, q“If you look at the number of people who are moving into Edmonton, it’s record high levels so that’s contributing to that expanding demand,” she said.
