Anything related to water frozen in basement is a serious issue, it has to have immediate attention.
Few minutes work if just the safety expansion valve leaks ( most probably only the valve) ) k0 s y4 a. h# } G* T$ V9 \( h' Q {; F
Close the main water inlet valve; 5 I+ C, r! ~) B3 g5 M9 kopen all faucets in the house including showers to drain all water out in the pipe line; : \1 `6 W" d# s! vClose the cold water valve to the water tank if you have one; , \! t3 x) M) P2 H6 n' Y4 K3 \/ D/ mShut down the hot water tank by closing the temperature switch to off;; z1 O' a* `+ ^3 w+ i( F' z
Open the drain valve at the bottom to drain all the water out; 2 u2 [( i6 A3 FThen remove the expansion valve, go to home or Canadian tire. they all have one. - \3 h3 A" y$ G" V) P. n8 i3 S' t. S6 I+ y5 }% y# E6 f

* q. k3 s D) u) h; Y- FThe humidifier is even simpler. The drain hose is supposed to have water go thorough the humidifier filter inside the housing and then goes to drain when furnace is on. / `- K; |, c! z! }, i; ^" v$ K% X, w* B% w7 b
If there is no crack at the housing connector, just re-do the connection when the furnace is off. - D: m3 y* ?; g4 O2 s% f/ e( V* R, c
