EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.8 o; x9 j! J, v; ?6 g6 a
) y: C( P2 e: z$ X5 m; k. n& r
The item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.

* ?% m5 u' x3 LPolice evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.2 ?. c9 e0 H& z8 ?& P, F
! Y* }' ^% o- j4 b2 u4 a6 C4 R"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."
