EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.4 k% w" ^# ?2 P. ]1 Q, y1 H" G
. f O+ s5 ?+ yThe item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.

Police evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.( \, u( [+ q8 ^- F% a+ k6 C5 D
6 s6 l# i3 Q( ^6 ?8 E5 j) j. f. P"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."
