I have a friend named Monty Roberts who owns a horse ranch in San Ysidro.

The last time I was there he introduced me by saying, 'I want to tell you

man who was the son of an itinerant horse trainer who would go from stable 0 Q. g- _' F! i
to stable, race track to race track, farm to farm and ranch to ranch, training
! D5 m# W2 m4 X0 Thorses. As a result, the boy's high school career was continually interrupted. 8 N! Z$ b. _6 o9 d
When he was a senior, he was asked to write a paper about what he wanted ) N2 y+ l2 y+ u2 j
to be and do when he grew up.

owning a horse ranch. He wrote about his dream in great detail and he even

4 p" m0 ]2 X6 d6 tthe stables and the track. Then he drew a detailed floor plan for a 4,000-square-foot # d# r5 n( @0 E1 r$ r
house that would sit on a 200-acre dream ranch. / o) Z+ N" G1 g4 t' h+ y
( j( o: V" ~, b) Z' K6 C9 U'He put a great deal of his heart into the project and the next day he # f6 y7 H4 E4 T7 E5 {( c
handed it in to his teacher. Two days later he received his paper back.

'The boy with the dream went to see the teacher after class and asked,

pay large stud fees. There's no way you could ever do it.’ Then the teacher

reconsider your grade.’

'The boy went home and thought about it long and hard. He asked his father ' P4 u8 @8 r% B
what he should do. His father said, `Look, son, you have to make up your

'Finally, after sitting with it for a week, the boy turned in the same

that same schoolteacher brought 30 kids to camp out on my ranch for a week.'
