Today I was volunteering at a post office. A man in an old jacket with uncombed hair came to the counter. He had a wallet in his hand, and put it on the counter. He told me:

8 U7 V; w9 ]- Z* N7 RI did not understand what he meant by "it", because usually people would send a letter or a parcel back to the sender, and I did not see he had any of those. So I asked him:; u, W5 I5 |/ Y0 h* ]' \: R
"I am sorry, what are you sending back?" / ~; w. n, s. ^" g
He said, "the Wallet, I am sending back the wallet." Then he added: "I am going to pay the postage."
: d" F! ?" G2 ?" @6 G"Oh, you found a wallet, and you are going to send it back to the person who lost it?" , ]) ]! p3 r$ ^6 w+ v
"Yes, I did."0 [" c7 l% M. V& y6 D0 m, N
Finally I understood: this dishevelled man found a wallet, and he was going to return it to the owner by post.
# D. C9 {7 b7 n7 H: T. C' p5 Y2 |He took the ID card from the wallet, and showed me the address of the loser of the wallet. I saw there were several one-hundred bills in the wallet. # T9 V( B4 ?6 G. V4 y4 T9 s- k2 ]
"Are you going to take some money from the wallet to pay the postage?"
. n& P8 O) l8 n- W"No, I am not. I do not do those things."
c% A4 V1 S9 `He took out his wallet, which was nearly worn-out, small, and almost empty. There were some coins inside. 8 F' E0 c# h% A) C$ E) T9 C
I gave him a bubbled envelope, and instructed him where to write the addresses. He wrote the owner's address, but stopped at writing a return address. He asked:- S7 r) t! @! j" C6 W
"Is it okay that I do not write this part?"
! H0 A- E2 u6 Y"Yes, you may." I thought he must want to be a nameless hero. But he said:
0 f& t* @' A+ t# L% z"I do not have an address."
5 U1 M0 F% R# Y* p P& l! q# l" ~I was surprised: "oh, where do you live?"6 S" @% G0 p3 H0 \" G
He did not look up, and said: "I do not have a home."
$ l5 w) J2 ?. i& G- {, cMy heart had a sudden jump. I realized that this is a homeless man who found money but was sending it back to the person who lost it.
