Job description
Statistics Canada is looking for a reliable individual for a part-time position to work evenings and
weekend hours.
You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Research Data Centre (RDC) computer
" `) d# Z0 Y  x' wlab located on the University of Alberta campus as well as providing administrative support for the
centre.
These responsibilities include:
: N, @$ F4 B7 q3 L. i& b! H- D& Q-Maintain the integrity of the security systems in the RDC.
-Provide basic support to clients on operating Window XP.
7 s, E7 w( `' l, w-Provide general office administration support, such as filing, upgrading software and
renewing licenses, communicating with various university departments with respect to
- p6 [, \+ D+ Rfacilities’ maintenance, etc.
-Conduct other office related tasks, such as Internet documents search, backup of electronic
clients’ files etc.
+ C0 B4 U: ~( E; H% kStatement of Qualifications
Education:
) E* W# e$ M( E6 V-Successful completion of Bachelor degree in administration, business, computer sciences,
education, economics, sociology, statistics or related discipline; or an acceptable combination
of education, training and /or experience.
Knowledge/Technical competencies:
-General knowledge of the Microsoft Window operating system.
-Extensive experience in using Microsoft Window office application software including Word
3 E  }: j. P1 Sand Excel.
# q  r& t4 ]' U$ Z/ p-Experience using and updating an information database.
! q* V9 }$ p* }7 ?9 O8 q  |% J
  ?* l0 j6 I2 ?- D$ SAssets:
-Experience in using MS Access.
-Experience in web page publication, xml and/or IT network knowledge.
-Experience in one of the Statistics software: SAS, SPSS or STATA
Abilities:
" e1 m1 T- s0 v: p( v4 E-Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  k1 n* M  ]! x3 @4 i-Ability to operate a computerized system to research information.
* r( n/ @" @' _  u! H-Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
