Position: Part-time Assistant
Classification: Statistics Canada CR-04, Term, Part-time
Location: Research Data Centre, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta
Hourly rate: $20 ($40,101 per annum prorated at 12 hours per week)

Job description
2 Z3 K* z/ K- }' i  s/ _+ yStatistics Canada is looking for a reliable individual for a part-time position to work evenings and
weekend hours.
7 y. U) i! I1 Z8 Q9 [3 M/ ~You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Research Data Centre (RDC) computer
) U- m1 w7 a, K3 x9 Zlab located on the University of Alberta campus as well as providing administrative support for the
# g4 p- c& T, M& \0 O) Wcentre.
These responsibilities include:
-Maintain the integrity of the security systems in the RDC.
7 G- H/ M; k& x+ P5 O. ?" {-Provide basic support to clients on operating Window XP.
% _/ G  |% `1 @1 ]5 T+ b& k4 I; `-Provide general office administration support, such as filing, upgrading software and
renewing licenses, communicating with various university departments with respect to
facilities’ maintenance, etc.
-Conduct other office related tasks, such as Internet documents search, backup of electronic
clients’ files etc.
: h4 A0 h8 |. _) Z" ZStatement of Qualifications
Education:
-Successful completion of Bachelor degree in administration, business, computer sciences,
) E- W6 C( ?4 a# Z2 l1 x" j. b% deducation, economics, sociology, statistics or related discipline; or an acceptable combination
of education, training and /or experience.
Knowledge/Technical competencies:
% d& S+ j: M: }-General knowledge of the Microsoft Window operating system.
-Extensive experience in using Microsoft Window office application software including Word
# q' ~* ^9 o9 F) Q8 L7 o  |and Excel.
) D3 o' b2 j$ c- N( ^; G, t-Experience using and updating an information database.

Assets:
  H) k, R% {3 H5 p4 [/ X-Experience in using MS Access.
) D0 l4 R. b& L2 J+ r% m-Experience in web page publication, xml and/or IT network knowledge.
. Q5 `+ }7 W/ `-Experience in one of the Statistics software: SAS, SPSS or STATA
Abilities:
-Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
9 P5 Q9 n/ |- C5 V1 C/ Z" {! Z-Ability to operate a computerized system to research information.
! z, J' ^8 Q) k7 [# S1 w% M6 Y' P-Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
