The University of Alberta - Department of Chemistry is currently
recruiting for the position of Laboratory Technician Assistant - Job No.

. f# t; }  L  Y+ c# o- y; ESalary to be paid will be $15.00 per hour for a 40 hour week.

3 F, p) k8 R* i4 l5 ODuties include: working closely with graduate students and research
+ \9 \& V( z0 e- m0 f0 \/ c, Atechnicians, the candidate will work on the synthesis of intermediates
; R. [- M* Y$ A: j9 ~& k& Kfor use in chemical and biochemical research. Particular duties will
# m9 j2 I& S+ a3 I0 T  }1 Qinclude carrying out chemical and/or enzymatic reactions and purifying
compounds by chromatography.

7 t1 n  n& w8 Q; A1 K8 pQualifications include successful completion of courses in organic
% P! }# v: O7 ]& t! B# }" PChemistry (Chemistry 263 or equivalent) and ideally biochemistry and
  j- W. v4 L3 D7 D/ ^* L! I5 Janalytical chemistry; familiarity with basic biology and chromatographic
separations important. Attention to detail and ability to work as part
; R9 r7 s$ v. t- Vof a team essential.
9 N* x  }+ K  }8 |This position will provide the candidate with experience in biochemical
and chemical research and would be ideal for students who ultimately
hope to work in these areas.
