The Organization: Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! is a registered nonprofit
. R* `+ q% _/ D; y* X+ D  Qsociety led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
4 X  M5 E6 ~3 h$ A" Svolunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
ages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
$ d" A* \/ h/ \$ Yorganizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more
sustainable communities.

! A  R: L' C3 S' H8 T5 x; OPosition Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
and leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
non-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
works within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
1 h+ Z  y/ k7 ]- l0 ypolicies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
7 Z+ ]6 o  W0 {* S3 F( {# f3 Jaffairs at all times.

6 r9 c# w: z7 Z# D+ z$ WPrimary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
vision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
* K* o* v0 K, L' _' i, Zarrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
- c, M9 r2 @1 O% L8 `media/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
* R) ^( n" F% N) p7 [8 p. C0 Gto implement the organizational policies.

- b' i, z: i9 N/ QPLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
( _  s5 y+ e; R3 O$ p; kas per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
the right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

In addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
* Y% l- l4 n" Z( V9 h  c1 n6 Ythat bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
payable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
6 }% Y  Y' l2 z) M0 n/ d* n! ^the organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

3 r( O" Q9 n1 XKey Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
including a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
* [) r$ H, f+ R" m; s' Uorganizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
& I5 x$ A5 D' |# v$ B5 g- e; |$ @work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
managing projects and budgets.

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
processes an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
proposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
with youth.
