society led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
volunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
ages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
organizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more

8 B$ g* m5 S5 f  _Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
and leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
non-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
works within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
# }8 Z+ F* O$ {policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
$ R; l; r2 W5 q* S/ `0 {2 W- Baffairs at all times.

Primary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
vision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
+ b( q3 |) C% [' s2 Carrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
media/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
  d- g5 D5 X, v, Ofor the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
0 a) E2 q, X2 M. S; w1 p0 n! b6 b, @to implement the organizational policies.

8 L# L6 f9 T# Y9 [, VPLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
3 \$ z. x6 o$ K4 k0 @as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
the right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

In addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
3 P) I2 c7 Y; ?% Tdevelopment of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
7 b% R5 n$ n( N$ Q( Z0 w+ I1 Wthe funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
that bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
5 F* B; c) ]( u) o2 A: |4 O; ~( \/ Apayable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of

Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
" t8 j1 z0 |1 U  w& }including a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
0 d1 J' x# ~1 bpartners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
4 O% Y3 k  |& O4 [organizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
5 Q: r  V$ U' B* {8 ~# Mwork in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
7 M! w3 a$ B4 `& H' Y: Nmanaging projects and budgets.

4 N/ O$ J6 i. P5 ]% @, s+ e/ XPLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
processes an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
proposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
