Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.( s5 E: H1 l, T, c

! i3 M6 S' v: v: U9 e• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.

• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather ) u+ t4 a5 F4 V9 L. O6 n

• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.8 V l& M) n# N2 |' V# E& G/ ^
• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.). D, T* u# @0 I: f
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
; P) W: S! H2 ~& R& C% K• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.% p, a% O+ y, N1 Y0 i7 X+ Y
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) 5 K+ A y7 w. M$ ?3 ^" r
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.

video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

HOURS OF WORK:
+ q8 @6 L8 A2 H4 FVarious hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week
4 h7 B# i: ` V8 E1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly
* D( W4 K+ z$ A3 J x" oThereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly
