0 O/ ^* u) k5 FEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.
& E3 U9 D2 R& a• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
' w6 M3 I) t) ^1 ]! e• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.
& L- x C& I1 n' _6 C• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

7 [; K/ L0 g% t* g5 _• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
: ~, g! F, _4 g6 l' B! M& S) L• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.
: T5 D# A5 N/ G/ T* t$ t• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability 8 K0 e$ q7 @- V+ a* Z1 E
to be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.). C# V/ p; l( ^3 Q& K& x
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
5 ?/ ~, O, i% U% `* Q• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training./ Z8 W1 M; @4 v# a" X) p2 C
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
8 `2 v! F+ \1 c: J5 @1 xshowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.
) B+ ?/ K' v' N9 E! l" F" Z• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill * F! Y" m6 K0 I( j \& f7 W
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).$ n) A# O; M, [ A+ S
• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.

HOURS OF WORK:
) t& \- b: j: L3 h! mVarious hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week
7 z3 g! x" D+ Z- }' b1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly; o1 G1 s X, |# [& B$ |. A6 E
Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly. J( x" I9 o0 d3 ^4 {

SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004 0 G- U2 j Y6 L6 [8 L; ^0 R. s
Training Rate: $16.56 Hourly
) p( C& T3 N$ e5 h0 u0 wPost Training Rate: $20.36 - $25.45 Hourly
