Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis./ Q" L; S1 a7 x; A4 P

• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.) K }% \2 R' f; P

• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather ; ?' p5 k; l9 C# ^, ]6 F
and traffic conditions.

• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations.

• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability 6 g: D9 r. P+ [- `; R9 b' t4 X9 ]
to be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger

& |) P2 `4 u6 Z1 n0 o6 X• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
7 c# @1 g- A m! r5 _6 N• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
L" p$ }0 j# l- y: G# w5 W* \9 S3 k; i$ l• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.5 v/ G2 P1 d# A
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
' c: j) l3 f2 p6 [0 l; y! Fshowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.
; [. X; P6 q3 p) t) G• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
& `- M$ X7 \5 kvideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).- [1 i* g$ Z9 U6 f! i- ^1 W) x
• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.$ `, X3 f& \) T
• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week

2 b! C* S( w2 q1 ]8 S& r& D& M9 [) eThereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly

SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004
