what about clichéd or hackneyed, are they closer? They both mean something by "overuse" but the end results still seem to difer from when I use 肉麻

cliché really means overused, predictable, 陈词滥调, 了无新意.  for example, in chinese shows, to imply that a woman is pregnant , she will always suddenly rush into the washroom and start to vomit, that's a cliche scene. so cliche!4 `5 S4 T3 t' h

so far I think "cheesy" is really THE word, as per the slang dic.

Thought I'd throw in my 2 cents!7 B0 |! X1 D% V4 N+ S

: N, u1 j2 l* D; ]4 D. z2 w3 O7 bcheesy often means "cheap, flimsy and of low quality". However, when it is used to describe food, it usually means "of a lot of cheese"; when describing an emotional/sentimental scenario, it could mean "fake", "of low class",  caused by affectation, which may very much make one to feel "rou ma" , "goose bumps" is just one of its infamous side effects.
