' \5 A$ q$ a# xfinancial and operational success of the Horowitz Theatre as well as , A j) q O* F k& D# z
the logistical organization and smooth rental of the additional * c s* k+ Q% ^5 O- k$ l% C( A
venues within the realm of the Students´ Union. In the light of that

focuses upon advertising and promoting the venue to faculty, 6 v/ ]' b* c/ K; u9 M( O( V
students, and internal and external clients on an on-going basis.
! e) Q6 n$ b2 s A& Q( \This strategy will include implementing and/or delegating the following:1 s. r" g- I3 F, I, W7 }
· To develop and maintain promotional materials, the Horowitz
9 M- N9 b* m( ? zTheatre and SU Venues home page, newspaper and other advertising; to 4 l' v) r! B, @ a
take advantage of other internal and external advertising 2 b! H O, Z( Q3 x3 G4 R9 {
opportunities; and to develop press releases and other promotional 4 L% F( P* W2 J) M0 T, m3 L* [
literature on an ongoing basis.1 d: M: i- b" o! R! R8 F. B& D# |
· To coordinate tours of the venues for potential renters.$ d) [: l) K" {, h0 Y
· To promote upcoming events in the Horowitz Theatre through the

: ]5 c& M- ?" @: ?3. Staff and Supervisory Roles and Responsibilities, Q$ Y' Y d3 X& C7 ^9 i

a. To ensure, at all times, that the venues are adequately and cost-
& C; S L, o5 K( ?: r. deffectively staffed, and that the staff utilized by or within the
5 s* a$ K9 C) Q3 G) Rvenues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and needs, and
6 L2 O, h" E& T8 t2 econtribute in a positive way to the smooth operation and success of
1 B- @* t# z. P8 A4 uthe renter´s events. This includes, but is not necessarily limited
- {6 U0 v W6 B$ { J* }to, the following:7 ?6 I N1 M% u
· To be responsible, under the direction of the Manager of Venues
; ~+ z% I3 `: G7 i& P" j9 p2 O# }3 T+ yand Programming, for all staff issues including hiring, disciplining, " `5 C4 d X1 ^
evaluating and terminating, as necessary.0 s1 M1 ?& i3 A
To ensure that the Horowitz Theatre is adequately supervised at # U6 T- O3 j, ^8 V3 V. x9 O$ s
all times, this includes the development and implementation of such : P# i; u& n, k& T
schedules and rosters as may be necessary to ensure the effective and
2 |" U. `$ U# ucost-effective supervision of the venues at all times during which it

· To work with the Technical Director, when necessary, to ensure 1 O, y8 b, O' E& i" L+ t8 {
that an adequate and appropriate level of part-time staff exists to " w! z( Z, ]% D
facilitate the smooth operation of the venues and to ensure all
- U- L$ {4 f/ Nrenters needs are met.
2 M: c4 p. D& k% t# ^8 t· To work with the Technical Director to ensure that the skills
9 a; t- |; r9 @and attitudes of all subordinate staff are appropriate in light of + d6 [0 \0 w ]! T* F
the roles they must perform. This includes providing adequate and
( n \% U! d2 J; H. }% [effective training (and re-training) in all applicable and " P" h* f$ g) z8 ?" W% j
appropriate areas, and ensuring that the Policy and Procedures manual
( U) y2 j) F) T! m( ~$ m( Xis kep up-to-date at all times.
/ `" v2 n- j! v) F; \% z9 d· To ensure all staff are trained in and committed to providing ) m1 @4 ^3 S) M) c& a
excellent customer service to all renters.: a. C% L( j6 E- q) |) l# O
· To work with the Technical Director to arrange staff
* t, k' X, z7 L6 l& R D/ Yscheduling. To handle payroll related matters, under the guidance 8 X. F, c" n0 o9 `9 S' @' d
and direction of the Manager of Venues and Programming, concerning " A, w7 m8 O* X& C
the staff of the venues.6 \, w5 v8 O, ~0 | t
· Working with the Manager of Facilities and Operations to ensure 8 B, L q& I! C0 w) o' H
the appropriate setup/tear down of each venue.

that additional requests such as licensed receptions are arranged.

systems and processes utilized by or within the venues meet the
% b$ {% P" B( M1 qappropriate standards, requirements and needs, and contribute in a
m- \ f7 D+ ~4 ?5 a- wpositive way to the smooth operation and success of the venues. This
% e# i d' w2 `7 v+ P0 L) `includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following:5 C8 j8 }8 ?; C" h; E$ T* j
To provide input and expertise in the formulation of appropriate
' K$ T* M5 V# |# S3 v4 qoperating budgets covering the venues to the SU´s Manager of
# [( B& r# U8 {1 O; }& gProgramming and Venues and to discuss and refine those budgets , h" o* c3 z& n+ f o
Manager of Programming and Venues, and Manager of Finance & 1 E4 z- l3 z$ {3 d+ D v1 k
Administration prior to their submission for final approval.3 i) X2 V* b8 e$ R
· To manage the venues in a manner which adequately and effectively
/ u* \, U! {: k% M6 Z; ^2 S qreflects the budgets approved for the venues and/or which reflects

· To function as the key player in the submission of financial and

compilation of monthly and annual financial statements, and such

; ^2 {3 y) R' m) k+ ^3 a& U+ U: x$ Mwith all financial and administrative procedures, with the SU´s

the Horowitz Theatre.
- ]- _: e5 [% H· To ensure the existence of adequate, effective and accurate job ' I( l. c9 v' S3 \- o @
costing systems to be used in connection with the determination and + Z/ f9 _& C" h! S7 Q# ^9 ]
setting of appropriate prices for rental and staffing rates for ( N5 H" v" ~# y( _2 B6 @9 @- F
events held in the Horowitz Theatre.& H4 l+ Q$ z( D! P; i
· To develop accurate documentation to be used in connection with / `; |. ^) {6 ~/ e5 G8 B
the billing clients, and to forward such documentation in a timely

· To recognize, address and handle all matters relating to financial : K! d4 a2 o7 {; j4 q
and administrative procedures and systems in a manner which reflects

a. To ensure, at all times, that the systems and processes used in 6 [* R, p/ Q, u1 a+ z; U0 q- Y. v
renting the venues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and
7 q+ M" h$ S" V6 ~+ sneeds, and contribute to the smooth operation and success of the

3 F6 a7 R( p9 \' D9 I G! O; \- G" ]8 O· To recognize, develop and set in place such rental procedures as 7 I0 q" R2 L7 A# L! m9 Q- }
may be necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the venues, this 9 I+ W2 s$ a, `, g) i) A* }
is to include but not necessarily be limited to systems and processes
+ k8 K* C% @; ]3 |% k5 M0 \in the areas of contracts, inventory management, contract evaluation,
: w1 a g; g S' r# t1 [pricing, costing, equipment usage, rental/contract invoicing, - \, h( j. C* K* k6 K
together with such other systems and procedures as may be necessary ' x4 E( k4 _$ |! z! d! q
to ensure the smooth, secure, efficient, cost-effective and 6 h) P, ]" @" D9 Y/ f
functionally-effective operation of the Horowitz Theatre.* z! H4 h" E! L1 v* ^7 d
· To recognize, develop and set in place such operational procedures 3 v8 Y- c$ B- d8 Q+ k- v6 U
as may be necessary to ensure the smooth, efficient and cost- 4 V6 q6 i6 Y" \( d% c& c
effective operation of the venues.
# P" I$ f& ~0 m& J8 K2 H· To negotiate rental lease agreements (contracts) relating to 2 [& U9 H2 [3 O( d/ {
dates, rates, staff and miscellaneous charges." V2 b: x' @) z5 h0 ?+ a/ t
· To ensure that adequate inventory is available at all times and " X0 a- k; c8 A1 o; Y( h
that such inventory is stored and issued in effective and secure ways.8 `, J f8 x$ M4 R0 B
· To consult with renters as to facility issues in producing their / z5 }, O; y7 D* w+ @7 `) o
particular event in the venues.
# w- }% i0 i7 W( W% v) e· To provide the venues on-site staff with such documentation and ( I+ I. v2 E0 y4 i
supporting information as it may need to effectively fulfill the
* b1 {( F- x1 p! ]2 Z1 Troles they are to perform to ensure the success of the renter´s event.
8 M& V" a* p1 a+ N" K0 C3 R' o; Z· To produce quotes in respect to staffing costs for a particular ( l. f& {" a9 @8 }4 F0 f( Z( K2 k" U
rental with consultation with the Technical Director.
! l/ I" B- H( }! Z+ q9 f, r· To ensure that all queries raised with the venues whether from the . ~! [6 p8 |) ?
SU or renters, are promptly and effectively handled and adequately
6 h* Q: D5 I3 x4 v$ H5 r, M) H6 _answered, and to ensure that such action as may be necessary in
! ?8 [* x0 I, ?$ {0 a7 Z. d$ |" xfollow-up to such queries is taken in a timely manner.
3 \: C/ t- q, M } To ensure that the venues and its capabilities are adequately, % U' Q4 i+ @6 I' V- A7 D4 G7 G
effectively and cost-effectively advertised and promoted, and that
* u; W$ K# w4 y* ^) n9 d" Rthe cost of such endeavors does not exceed the budgetary provision
, w! J% M' Y! ~made for them unless prior approval is given by the Manager of 7 L9 f/ j6 v$ U: b
Programming and Venues.
' x0 `6 F7 m O+ _! W; i* d· To act as an informed and knowledgeable resource in the case of 3 R d8 F- I6 U: T
significant challenges and/or problems surrounding the tasks of . s5 U4 M9 c* ]
marketing, administration, operations, and any such other matters as

operation of the venues or the Students´ Union as a whole.

1) Minimum two years related post secondary education, or
