CALGARY — Screams filled the air after a 17-year-old teen was killed after being struck in the head with a pickaxe at a house party. * r' ?. h5 J9 `3 _; ]" D
1 u! g( n" B2 r0 t1 g3 G$ \Neighbours said about 100 teens were at a house in southeast Calgary when the attack happened in a detached garage about 11:50 p.m. Saturday.

' C S- ?. P( A4 U# bLisa Poole, who lives two doors down from where the teen died, rushed outside when she heard a lot of screaming.

Jeff said two high school-aged girls live at the house with their mother. He said large parties are common at the residence.

Friends identified the dead teen as Matt McKay, 17. 0 S# y- R6 A) i% w& \- X+ T
& E8 S- z( r! P; a1 p% w4 }7 xChris Briggs, who grew up in the same neighbourhood and was friends with McKay, described him as nice guy and avid athlete.
