Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. 7 }% u( s3 S4 c& j4 G

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
9 o5 ~ e/ [5 F' t# s+ X/ s$ _- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services8 @ c2 Z2 Z5 D3 B9 O, C
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services& @+ a1 K4 D, ^' }) T: f9 i# z0 [1 g
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies. H: Q0 m3 Z1 Z1 Q
- coordinate good will activities

- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services

- explore new ideas for ISP

% W' I$ Q) x5 O# Q- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

Qualifications) o* R8 `, H# D
- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education 6 {4 c( d) ]7 H, R6 X3 x2 X% O; c0 P
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills* c5 r9 e; i9 I- K5 b, H
- experience in community work and immigrant services
