Position title: Community Development Worker

6 O g7 ]6 m2 Y, y+ J/ SPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community* a4 `9 a5 _1 A* |
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services! o7 D9 g0 ~1 T! `6 ?: X
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services6 c5 G0 x- }; u7 V! W
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies

- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members h+ S8 l0 _$ K. {3 a* N; a
- submit information for community news

3 [* \+ D P6 H" V- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- update ASSIST website$ [2 Y3 w, Q3 r
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre6 ] u3 y+ G ~) C
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services
; j w; a8 h# G# O9 R& ?- assist in writing proposal for ISP
* k) A$ q6 a/ E- write quarterly and final reports for ISP2 M9 W* J' u9 [' N5 }0 M
- explore new ideas for ISP 4 d# `0 S1 {8 P3 J4 g1 ?$ W, s1 O6 }
- hold regular meetings with ISP team" }% U- u8 t4 h1 W5 T( I1 D
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time- a9 G1 ^7 V- K0 }
- update membership database/ z4 B9 |: B8 S1 Y5 a$ S
- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

Qualifications
% V, C, ]& D- L, Y, M X- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
3 ^6 Z9 t5 J, e' f' t2 P- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
3 D+ h' p% D9 N' m8 T/ u# j k/ G& ~- experience in community work and immigrant services
' I3 U( ~7 B! R, X2 S- ^; u- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars$ E/ k" _7 _) U8 Z3 G
- leadership skills
/ O$ K+ G! e) X& x2 Z- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills
