What activities will I do during my road test?

You are required to know and demonstrate:& W0 C1 d1 e2 n3 s
· how to identify and operate the vehicle controls
+ [, T7 z+ o7 f$ A1 d· how to do right and left turns legally and safely
4 N( j, m7 x# q) l· school and/or playground zone times and speed limits

· how to hill park (up or down)0 P1 b/ S8 v( _3 c% z
· proper lane changing1 I/ e* b- |; R2 Q% D
· how to manage controlled and uncontrolled intersections

The road test will run the full time unless the Examiner feels that your safety, or the safety of others, is at risk.) b n1 k, B% Z& e4 v% }! E- O( b4 N
For example, if you do not show good judgment of time and distance when turning left in front of oncoming traffic,

· Wear clothing that is practical for driving and comfort. It should be appropriate for the: i5 ~8 A- ]$ N
weather conditions (in case your vehicle breaks down and you have to wait or walk).0 v6 {- y$ { u3 O" V: }
· Your vehicle must meet all legal requirements (good mechanical condition, valid
7 m) w9 Q( J) `) ?9 J( Cinsurance and registration) and have enough fuel for at least one hour of driving.' a: O8 t5 G( n8 F
· Payment for the test must be made directly to the Examiner or Registry office.

The Examiner will do a vehicle check with you. You will be in the driver’s seat and the examiner will ask you to# W0 k( r5 L' u: e1 @# M
assist in checking the signal and brake lights, horn, brakes, and steering. You will be asked to describe and+ u5 v" b W e! `* S
demonstrate two of the instruments or controls inside the vehicle, such as the hazard lights and windshield
1 `/ T3 b4 o7 X f7 b5 qwipers. The Examiner will provide information before you move the vehicle about the route and the instructions- S' c" x1 S% b$ U- ]

While Driving …

· Points will be assigned for errors. You will be allowed a maximum of 75 points to pass the road test.
3 }9 D" y% Y; e1 a" E# B+ M, gYou must not do anything that is considered unlawful, dangerous, or unsafe, (for example, speeding or not
4 s: k% P R2 t- C% T. R2 xstopping at a stop sign).

& ^, N' A) E9 w* ^2 Y% Q! Y; A( E· The Examiner will not ask you to do anything illegal.+ W! d# J9 m. H& h0 k
· When the road test is finished, the Examiner will highlight the areas you performed well, as well as- E! w3 N( x4 V4 Z# @4 z3 u( N

Test Permit. This will indicate that you have passed. Take this permit, along with your learner’s licence, to any
. C: W% i. s: C# v3 D6 B$ o' y% z0 iAlberta Registry Agent to have your licence changed to a Class 5 Probationary Licence. There will be a fee for this

not passed. Keep the form and bring it to your next road test. You may not take another road test on the same day.
