 bring 12 (per intake) at-risk youth together into a unique 20 week group-based7 F3 `' V( j: G
 employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”; 16 weeks of day
 / u) n. l+ @' E& U3 Rprogram and 4 weeks of employment exposure. YOUCAN is an acronym that
 3 o8 \+ ?$ k% e) Qstands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and Advocate Non-Violence.
 4 [# m6 {& H* G  k' a( N# JYOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for almost six years and our
 8 M+ F; g* b5 F4 G9 E- u1 z% F/ q  ?mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to peacefully resolve' u6 p& x* n+ Z5 h6 j- J
 conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities. The goal of the# x+ h) u' D0 U2 H9 O; g
 VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining the skills
 " N/ N7 E7 ^( Y2 Z* Xnecessary to bring success into their lives. The program is designed to serve
 + L9 _1 r- f: P  O3 N7 Fyouth who have been involved in the justice system. The program will expose
 " s0 x) x  i0 m) I+ O9 O+ {  d+ \participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment6 d, e  G$ C# ~3 k- j
 development, personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution and  o1 s1 ?; _" L/ s
 exposure courses. Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and
 9 |  J5 D1 h/ b3 @wellness, volunteerism and leadership courses. The youth will be provided with a' E# d0 y& X  y! a2 E
 6-month employment follow-up once the program is completed.6 I! C  L: `. B2 R. o) j% ^* g+ S
 The project will run from 9:30-4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the Central
 6 X  d2 L# V& H3 UYOUCAN office, located at 8718-112 Avenue in Edmonton, Alberta.! G1 u1 |8 Z* Y* [; Y2 S6 ?. Y/ n
 The following position is a one-year contract with the possibility of' ?+ h3 X/ |$ R

 • Responsible for building relationships with employers within the
 , s% R, D+ I( b8 o" hcommunity to partner with YOUCAN to ensure there are employers that are2 v  ]3 K4 V: `2 ~8 i5 P. r' T
 willing to expose youth to the current employment opportunities
 : j) X1 m, m; M: U5 f4 h( ]• Ensure the youth action plans are reflecting the employment goals as
 # A$ x: A. u. T: o! W2 q% Z' x) Ybeing realistic to each youth participant7 J( Z6 O( I1 @" d
 • Work with the youth to find the appropriate training needed to equip the, y, I" }6 L" g. ]
 youth with the necessary skills needed to find the employment suitable to8 T5 e+ f- N' N% o  w- x
 each participant
 $ U3 }+ }- ]- {* |4 ^: F/ w1 \8 S• Assist youth with employment development including the development of
 " Q& N4 _  a8 E2 ?  tcover letters and resumes etc.
 ( B8 Z' Q4 @5 Z• Coordinate the employment exposure component and on site work" S: N9 k( N7 l2 d. x) n$ L8 g
 experience of the project, and monitor the progress of each youth at the0 o* g- P# L+ [* O9 W
 placements1 Q* a3 R$ k. [5 n+ L% _7 R
 • Conduct the 6 month follow up process for each of the youth, evaluating0 m( K5 k: v$ \8 c
 the process, and supporting the youth where needed+ D* K( ?  t( L- m; O1 N
 • Work closely with staff of the Verto Project to ensure the holistic approach
 ! ~8 O) ^# X9 s# y1 l9 His being fulfilled for each youth% s8 [' j, y  W! s
 • Administrative tasks, such as phone, fax, filing, copying, etc. that are) s. W  I! M( v+ D" X% W4 W* d
 related to YOUCAN’s Verto Project9 J. S: b+ V4 |& K
 • Other tasks as they arise within the position

  Post-secondary education or 3 years related experience accepted6 s) X6 W/ \/ G+ \
  A minimum of three years relevant experience is required.

  Skilled in software applications, computers and other office equipment
