 bring 12 (per intake) at-risk youth together into a unique 20 week group-based4 G5 \' `7 b: n
 employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”; 16 weeks of day
 5 |) v+ h5 N! R* D: P) Cprogram and 4 weeks of employment exposure. YOUCAN is an acronym that
 - ~0 _3 n2 C1 B9 Mstands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and Advocate Non-Violence.9 L( Q8 i( i" W7 c, g
 YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for almost six years and our
 ) v. u$ Y9 M, F) o7 Amission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to peacefully resolve3 h( [2 P! c. u& ^/ G& o2 v
 conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities. The goal of the& e( T4 {3 n$ j6 m0 L& q
 VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining the skills
 8 b& j  i) k  M0 `  Knecessary to bring success into their lives. The program is designed to serve
 k- u( ^4 q; u5 `# s# l) Y& Fyouth who have been involved in the justice system. The program will expose: u* `2 ^$ v1 l+ L+ _1 e
 participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment& U: Z/ e% w. b! D/ V9 \# S# L* s
 development, personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution and% R) D+ h0 Y2 u8 v3 N' o1 q* A
 exposure courses. Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and1 P  P9 c9 H+ M$ w' Q
 wellness, volunteerism and leadership courses. The youth will be provided with a
 ?6 j0 p2 d3 l' k" {4 G6-month employment follow-up once the program is completed.
 5 u5 A0 w; n% G- KThe project will run from 9:30-4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the Central+ v0 [: M# ^: E0 k7 b! ?$ x2 i- J
 YOUCAN office, located at 8718-112 Avenue in Edmonton, Alberta.
 ' @: S( M6 I- J' s# @2 f: DThe following position is a one-year contract with the possibility of& u$ G0 _2 a4 d$ v' m! g; G+ b! w9 o# p7 ?

 - Z$ f- k, Z% t* D! u: bEmployment Developer: 1 Full-Time Position (40hrs/week)/ e) ?; K( T& G% f9 ?
 • Responsible for building relationships with employers within the
 4 q* `; D. J/ qcommunity to partner with YOUCAN to ensure there are employers that are6 f* ~, k2 \. ]3 a$ B
 willing to expose youth to the current employment opportunities" D2 K4 q3 L0 j4 ^3 t
 • Ensure the youth action plans are reflecting the employment goals as" T. }- G( _! w- z. O+ ~; y6 s
 being realistic to each youth participant
 * ]4 W& J5 r: G% I• Work with the youth to find the appropriate training needed to equip the% o, G+ i8 Y+ \3 U
 youth with the necessary skills needed to find the employment suitable to0 R) X+ o1 K$ ?' M% s+ q0 d, J
 each participant/ K  V6 V, R/ l, `5 S. x
 • Assist youth with employment development including the development of4 y; {+ Y6 g+ m
 cover letters and resumes etc.; J" M* g- O1 P7 j0 ]4 I
 • Coordinate the employment exposure component and on site work9 l% g& `) E! F: ^& ]# s/ {
 experience of the project, and monitor the progress of each youth at the$ m8 \( l+ |& Z) l) o7 E
 placements
 ; L7 k0 G# B' N& o: U; g/ L• Conduct the 6 month follow up process for each of the youth, evaluating/ u- G$ \4 M% a9 l# a( R5 `: Q
 the process, and supporting the youth where needed
 + w6 q' B' V5 l. e: A6 Z• Work closely with staff of the Verto Project to ensure the holistic approach
 + ^3 k. {" ?! H) J$ |* c. Q' v7 ^is being fulfilled for each youth
 / [9 M" l& ~0 y* U$ Q4 a* n9 j• Administrative tasks, such as phone, fax, filing, copying, etc. that are
 2 u% y' e" i6 l# O/ prelated to YOUCAN’s Verto Project8 m$ X. p4 _7 r

 Experience Required: Employment Developer
 6 o% J7 L% p+ P Post-secondary education or 3 years related experience accepted! V; T) y) N" M- l1 n! F9 ]  k
  A minimum of three years relevant experience is required.
