The college announced Friday that Dr. Bryant Litchfield of Edmonton was permanently banned from practicing medicine for his "lack of judgment and unbecoming conduct."

In a hearing held last August, the college heard from three women who said Litchfield had manipulated their nipples or touched their breasts for no medical reason, and had conducted improper vaginal examinations.& ~0 g( _" x+ ]) |
: X; R, X% \; IThat hearing resulted in an order banning Litchfield from practicing, but the doctor appealed to the courts.# U; _+ X9 M# j

On Tuesday, Alberta's Court of Appeal rejected the doctor's challenge, allowing the college to strip Litchfield of his right to practice.* N9 b# B( s. B0 p5 W1 h

The doctor has also been ordered to pay the costs of the college in investigating the complaints, set at more than $158,000. |
