I thought it means I'm sorry to hear that, but the respones is : it's not your fault,4 |* O* X$ N! f7 T& R2 x3 Y) G4 W" d

很显然:sorry about that 的意思绝非:听到这消息很遗憾或很抱歉,而且"很对不起",因此人家会说:这不是你的错.$ E+ d- q7 \. J2 H m! b8 J4 a
"I am sorry" or "Sorry about that" is the simplified usage of "I am sorry to hear that". Although the respones is " It's not your fault," IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT!
