5 |5 u, ^* Q4 K; i; P2 L9 o( k8 I0 qAs part of the City of Edmonton's Newcomer Internship Program, we are seeking a highly motivated internationally trained Accountant to work as an intern for a period of 11 months.  The objective of this program is to provide foreign trained professionals with meaningful Canadian work experience related to their qualifications, skills and experience. 8 {" t# M9 u2 \' H2 a

# d6 v2 |7 i8 g/ e' V" ]2 gReporting to the Manager of Corporate Accountants Payable and Receivable, you will perform professional/senior technical accounting work involving control over processing and maintenance of complex and diverse accounts receivable and billing financial systems and records.  This may include:
* s) c+ Y6 C7 a•        Assisting in reviewing the overall accounting system and inter-related financial processes within a diversified accounting environment
/ \* b# h8 k0 K: ~, F•        Developing performance reports, including monthly billing and collection activity, customer profile, and specialized reports including year end financial statements
% \5 L3 |4 o& _4 k7 N' T' z•        Providing technical and professional advice and assistance to business are officials in matters of financial policies and procedures under the shared services delivery module5 D- @; d9 [7 b" A3 T6 U( Y: B
•        Performing complex trend analysis, transactional analysis and reconciliation's7 G$ f2 y" F$ D$ u+ }) I! x
•        Applying a high level of analysis in providing value added AP/AR services and recommendations to customers ' r" j& X7 }. l! {0 u$ d
Job Requirements:  
& o. C9 T0 F: p& L: `1 W•        University degree obtained outside of Canada (bachelor or applied) in an accounting-related discipline$ r7 r' M0 Y9 H  p6 h
•        Working towards a Canadian accounting designation (CGA, CMA, CA) would be considered an asset
- z& d/ M7 {3 N, ^, r+ X•        Three (3) years of progressively responsible international accounting experience
% P* J% o: X, k( L& ~% a•        A basic working knowledge of Corporate Financial Systems2 P2 a, E1 y, T$ E) {
•        Demonstrated competency in the use of Microsoft Office applications and spreadsheets
1 g+ {: q  O5 `  J# _. O•        Demonstrated ability to deal courteously with the public and make decisions within established policies) p. v- `. o+ p5 j
•        A basic knowledge of accounting, administrative procedures and regulations including GAAP and GST- ]2 Q$ a4 S9 p  O8 c
•        Excellent verbal and written communication skills$ k# _; t7 q% s' D7 u9 L
Hours of Work:  33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday. 1 A2 m1 y- I$ q# n# w
Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program.8 O4 f/ L, W9 m
Salary:  $27.00 hourly
