* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis/ S) c# J( W) i" X0 c3 G
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography/ O; Q) b5 w s B, ?7 N
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques' m9 f P2 z3 N3 q0 i: w' ?
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client; c/ k2 T: ?7 G( u r3 u! G1 K
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry. T9 [5 J" Q* Y" }- g
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals; D2 S+ N3 c! E7 @
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab7 A5 t9 N: t) e+ _2 p
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
% @- R3 d1 q, x6 Y& E * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)% U( o4 T/ Y9 F/ i# f; N* S4 `

$ g- S* e0 | Z. Q9 g3 K' d0 j' A- T5 M * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
* p& ]# Q; \. T! F * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
( E$ |7 W7 f% ~8 Q5 ^6 j" w * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel0 N$ ?4 m7 v; C
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
