* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis# t: @( }; O, i
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography h3 e6 f7 B f" Z/ j/ z3 |3 H. ?# X
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
( R* c6 o# u4 H1 L* y' G * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
9 n0 Z+ M3 A6 e" ] X * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry, h/ D2 F6 O" \
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals( S" c. h6 a/ @. R! s
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
0 l: v* O% D9 r$ K. l. A1 Q * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices

Qualifications

7 ?. L l% X. M. R6 J# ] * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred# C; `4 m' _; H: C4 S1 ^; z6 M3 O! [
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
1 L' R% {+ h) W * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
: w4 @9 I& Z9 W7 G1 O8 G! P- N * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures4 Q/ L: l# ~( F) u4 ]% s
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment U9 P6 q9 ]5 w5 Z
