Duties

9 w5 ?. w! v" V" g, s3 p- J. d) o0 B * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
0 }, O! h6 ~. [. P * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
) A, G! U- L: b * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques9 G G0 U" J% N
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
7 p: l) h! V0 B S * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
# ]4 E$ S, y7 z2 e, w * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals1 J' w# H) e5 c& X, C; T* R
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
3 O x: r6 B6 Y8 S: d" ^2 p * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
. l2 U! F) V7 i3 I& X8 H * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications
# G+ h2 O2 z& D6 S j0 [
0 V, d- |6 R5 D& d4 E * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred/ B: ^' L" x, b
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)) B1 z; i+ N/ j$ C
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel

* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment( J6 |6 m/ F9 [0 H
