Duties

! N9 ^2 o+ d" L * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis! M; a% i$ `0 s
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography: N0 h" P7 T, E' E
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques- x2 }. o( b9 T8 E; f& U) |9 E
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client$ }" e0 G4 g @
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
3 U& W; V$ _2 N( G5 b% Q3 Y+ z O( i * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
9 L# B- h- B& w- O! t$ c- b" s * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab' |4 u I8 b2 E( x( U
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices3 a7 O" \5 J: f! a1 K, J0 ]& n
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications
9 p, [/ C! | q# B4 [: x
# q) }' @* C, W7 O6 q5 x * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
* k( { M& I& Y5 o4 P1 a; {. j# Z * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)9 U3 R" j& |$ q$ H& B$ h* Y
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel. }5 M p! e2 t6 @
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures4 G- Z, ~# } ?8 f L2 u: E7 ?
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment+ x" K+ W8 w: w% e1 T, M
