Position: Regional Program Coordinator - Settlement Workers in Schools & Libraries Project / Location: Edmonton / Status: Contractual Full-time, 35 hrs week / Closing Date: July 11, 2008.

: |( S' C5 {1 LIn order to better help newcomer students and their families settle in their school/community, Citizenship & Immigration Canada, Settlement Agencies and School Boards intend to establish a school and Library based outreach program called Settlement Workers in Schools & Libraries (SWISL) in Edmonton, Grande Prairie and Fort McMurray.

& o% D9 S8 K: z0 h7 Q: Q# T2 n; QKey responsibilities: oversee the day-to-day activities/operations of the project; facilitate & support the planning & implementation of the SWISL Program; develop/deliver training and professional development for SWISL workers; develop resources for students, parents & SWISL workers.% g. - b$ f5 Z' C( V! l% W& C7 t: sPLUS: act as a resource and support for the SWISL project; promote the project and facilitate training, information sharing, problem-solving and networking between SWISL stakeholders in Edmonton and Northern Alberta.; n" @5 ~2 V! Y! }! y; g3 C

Key Qualifications: Post secondary education in a related field; excellent oral & written communication skills; experience in developing resources, delivery of training, facilitating meetings; knowledge of the settlement & education sectors; experience in program coordination; demonstrated computer skills in MS Excel, Access, internet & dBase management programs; work collaboratively with a variety of partners; preferably proficient in both English & French. & X- g& ]% v: G9 O8 [2 u4 x
