; z. x8 t* f7 G2 E. T8 K    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region* n. e" w' e' \" J3 m
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group# H) h7 y7 q- U8 j. m' _' f
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators) e5 l6 ~! K3 _: ^& k: @
    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations9 S2 a5 [5 C* x# z, r) U5 L
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director$ E" c7 R6 B" ?# u7 l) |
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
$ P; A+ J) O! t2 X9 M" g    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
% g2 N: a: ~' O8 ?- C* O    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program: N3 ^# \5 o' @/ _! i6 b) C
    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment) u3 L# X  I3 L, A( N6 Y
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
. ^/ \+ W' S4 k3 r1 G+ k    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs7 L- J2 ]: E! n" `
    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly# b6 D) f$ g8 X& f
    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities1 P/ _5 }9 w# F" Z) Y4 E; h
    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications
( }! m! ^: w$ d+ S- }% W4 p+ I; J. @' e# @% ?0 K/ Y
    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline5 k2 j, ^6 W& `, j
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
  |( J0 W3 [  J. H$ D' A+ {0 M3 _    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies6 ?) @- L/ Y! `
    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
& y+ ~2 D: w+ H/ u" `# S) A    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community# ]1 c; h5 ^0 m) T7 b: ^
    * Fundraising skills an asset
& I, u: S: Z/ D    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills  `7 g1 F0 C. `, R2 x2 G  ~
    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills+ q4 R9 M+ X2 U* R  E; ~5 M
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
4 @1 T- y# a, v- O' t    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
- c6 B$ l6 }! Z" W8 ~    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
