Duties

* Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
7 m7 o% T2 ~" y1 d# X9 M& c * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
' y0 Y& a) Z$ ? * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
; O3 G0 @" N! u; n$ `/ U6 x * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations2 G' Z; ?) U! f7 i$ }" G" W* @$ w& Z& ~
* Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director

* Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth

* Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment

* Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs6 ]* l+ {7 x* m& z& G
* Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly

8 P, H' Z6 K2 ^3 O5 q: @7 [ * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline" o3 J6 a' d* i$ F9 _$ x5 S, `& P
* Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
; z$ Q* N& Y, H) ?& T * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies

* Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
