    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
# e# [5 R2 {/ a, i    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group' f5 v6 Q9 Z' ~$ D
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators. t- w. J3 E  `$ j4 A% m: s
    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations! e3 ?. e' W3 {' j$ b$ v0 G
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
  r! M3 J# S( D" b  L, v    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
' {6 J( l( H( P' H% r$ D5 V    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
8 N8 G) H8 g" {9 `" [- H1 \. y  v    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
  F8 ^. o: |8 B7 m  V$ W    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment* E2 B' n4 Z2 K  s
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports. z: i0 V+ @8 H/ x/ O
    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs% L; K. A) o9 `/ ?( E& ?0 P2 F
    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly9 Z- L9 W5 p( F: T& D2 r9 K5 [8 f2 E
    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
  Z4 E6 O: d( }    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

( B2 K- P1 M$ S! vQualifications3 j# Y" \( r  G# \) K2 d

    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
* a: @# X& D) E) L* q4 S9 \  K    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
$ K% o: {( \5 {! H& G) H) n5 M# w    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
! O5 D  G' T0 W: w7 ]. T# k    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
  K* N5 ~0 V0 N1 J- F! L4 M' I5 c    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community. H' J' @1 v! {; I+ f
    * Fundraising skills an asset
9 n6 F; q$ n" u2 \    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills. Y7 }# Q+ y7 b# v
    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
* |: _3 `: k+ \/ M, e, u7 t    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
( R, {+ [0 T! ~, N0 V1 a    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
9 K; y) W( e7 `" D* J9 m7 F    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
