Duties
9 @8 H$ x: F" `% q; \' f
    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
7 m7 o% T2 ~" y1 d# X9 M& c    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
' y0 Y& a) Z$ ?    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
; O3 G0 @" N! u; n$ `/ U6 x    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
/ F9 R" O! _0 \5 J; g: s$ m    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
. K3 }! v. t5 n1 }  f0 l    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
5 S6 y+ H; ^3 H+ ^    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
8 e; j0 m+ o; D; ], }; I    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

8 P, H' Z6 K2 ^3 O5 q: @7 [    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
; z$ Q* N& Y, H) ?& T    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
3 }1 C1 j+ M. k1 I( {+ Q7 j    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
" S( w( w, B' C- D    * Fundraising skills an asset
$ O* J! Z! X$ s& ~0 ~5 {    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
/ A; d" v4 M' D8 T    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
3 C( Q* I# s' K    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
7 {" s0 Q) k' L7 \8 X    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
" t. L* f% U: D8 R7 D$ e# g9 X. R  n    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
