    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region4 h1 m' H1 }6 `4 w( N9 p
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group1 |# B- y9 t# H4 r* ]
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
6 ]% t- I% B  E; a4 A3 o! C$ _/ o    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations. T- c! ?) R8 Q% s/ q3 Y6 k
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director2 \- e5 k. \+ v: B+ N" P
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
0 i* n& Q. k& v9 l# i    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
  f; A* p- v, i$ I1 s    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
. h7 \! u, O+ C0 o; y    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment! t$ o1 g: u9 X/ ]- M
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports# ]- g; ^" K0 h8 a/ s( y
    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs9 L1 t- n% |, b5 Y
    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly& |+ b0 B3 }" b: x( `( v* ^" e( L6 x
    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
" r& Q( _% |% C4 \4 z    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications
1 N  t& i. _0 B, U% n0 ^! k1 L+ O" \' I- S9 o
    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline) Q1 @' r1 `" Y0 S$ F8 s
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth  h5 }' }; D, u1 c5 v4 p
    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies, O4 h! c  H! g3 F+ |* Z
    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
% x7 P) R4 y: G; T4 p    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
* s5 ~+ ]0 ], n3 g    * Fundraising skills an asset
1 _- J2 w$ ^+ s$ {    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills

$ R: I! }* V+ T# v    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills( L5 ]7 b# y2 _) Q, _
    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
$ m: m$ O% s$ N    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
