Duties

* Develops,coordinates, and facilitates the Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services (iSMSS), Camp fYrefly sexual minority youth outreach program
7 X5 h9 [) r, z# A. z9 r * Coordinates Camp fYrefly's year-round educational programming, peer leadership training,and youth mentoring activities
8 m) o) {; q3 ^: B * Coordinates, develops and oversees the camp application, recruitment, and selection processes
7 I, U8 T* O+ } * Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers who support the delivery of Camp fYrefly's annual summer youth leadership retreat" h/ S1 B: f' B8 x# n6 D
* Develops and solicits appropriate workshop and educational programming in consultation with a youth advisory committee and community stakeholders3 s$ {/ }- M \
* Liaises with the Assistant Director to set appropriate work priorities, action plans,and volunteer and program resource requirements/ o/ D i e. z8 M
* Works with the Assistant Director to plan, deliver and evaluate fundraising activities and donor recognition programs
3 i- X5 M' C8 v% X( i * Provides a year-end activities report and program evaluation to the Assistant Director0 x1 C' D. h9 j
* Serves as a resource person and liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning) Z$ C7 S/ J# R3 U: v/ l
* Develops high quality promotional and educational materials" z; K7 ^# e4 ?7 o2 W
* Develops and maintains relationships with local and national press and other relevant media" ]6 O" l$ Q8 k% a% M
* Creates and delivers community-based presentations on camp-related research and evaluation results
, Z3 |8 h+ }* A * Provides support and advice on emerging LGBTTQ youth needs and trends to Institute personnel and partner agencies

* Post Secondary diploma in a related discipline such as education, human services, community development or social sciences; Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline preferred' R: _: r `- X
* Three to five years background experience in youth programming and/or community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
; Q$ y$ n2 `6 `) x * Experience working with Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
9 A) C" Y9 c3 n * Knowledge of violence and bullying prevention, harm reduction, and youth advocacy strategies% |0 j. [& k* v- l3 j
* Demonstrated experience in the development of youth educational programming, community outreach, and conflict resolution skills
4 F, X4 v9 M1 i3 [+ I! ? * Knowledge and experience in fund development, volunteer management, proposal writing, and special event planning( T/ s( R( q' n3 p$ t4 `) K0 J) l
* Demonstrated skills in program/donor communication, development of information, education and communication material (including web-based documentation)7 z1 ?' J$ W; W+ c( A* C
* Excellent communication (oral and written) and analytical skills( Z1 s2 g) F; v" r
