"Markets in these cities continue to adjust after experiencing record price increases in the last two and a half years," the federal agency said.

Even heated Saskatoon posted a slower annual increase of 13.1 per cent, "further confirmation of a trend of deceleration in this city. Many builders reported increased prices as a result of higher material and labour costs," the agency said.

The fastest pace was in Regina, which saw a year-over-year price increase of 29.6 per cent, down from its record rise of 34 per cent in April.. |* L* T: T0 t$ Y6 C: q# D

As the market continued to cool in Western Canada, prices for new homes rose nationally at a slower pace in July for the sixth consecutive month./ f9 |/ ^' _( h6 ~) q

Prices were up 2.7 per cent in July from a year earlier, down from June's annual pace of 3.5 per cent. On a monthly basis, prices edged up 0.1 per cent between June and July.9 Q, F) B M8 R! R) \3 L
& Z; E! A `$ G2 K1 L f, h' Z' @"The growth rate of the index has been on a downward trend since September 2006," the agency said.
