Payment and collection of health care premiums owed prior to January 1, 2009 will continue under these guidelines:1 O8 h: B2 d, H

1. All Albertans are responsible to pay premiums unless they qualify for premium assistance, government-sponsored income support programs, or are senior citizens.3 I# K0 f0 `8 K8 F: L
2. Employers and benefit administrators who register and pay premiums on behalf of their employees will continue to do so.# p7 X3 {3 }- [4 r3 O8 L& D& W
3. Alberta Health and Wellness will continue to pursue collections from those who fail to pay premiums.6 F( W+ g n$ q8 o6 [$ U4 m' |
4. Contributors to Alberta Blue Cross or other supplementary insurance plans that provide prescription drug, dental, and other extended coverage, will still pay those premiums, as they have not been eliminated.4 A _- j# l. _; x {
