Master Composter-Recycler Program. Over a 3 weeks course schedule
* T5 d# \, |$ H% v2 C. j/ i0 E(Tues./Thursday evenings and Saturday) volunteers will learn about
; F! Y& ?/ V+ @# O Fenvironmental stewardship in our city, such as: history of waste
6 T+ X. z9 j3 Y1 Q( cmanagement; home composting; household hazardous waste;
5 H9 W3 @% O( a. F: R3 Svermin-composting and residential recycling.
. @. F3 |) h* W4 o& R4 \
0 |4 K) [) \. o6 O9 n+ j. NThis course offers in-class instruction as well as several field trips G* x) D0 K) H1 k" {3 K [& G
to various City facilities. After finishing the course, graduates
5 U' i/ Z- [" s' o/ H6 pcomplete 35 hours of volunteer activity promoting the four R's:7 x- i. _+ y% o3 c3 E8 r
reduce, reuse, recycle and recover. Graduates become important
( w4 T* A( c% \) y3 n) u# B& ]. Qresources in their communities as they broaden awareness about the
# X7 ?/ W- M2 l/ U/ dimportance of composting and recycling.4 v# z/ e. p7 r& f! S Y

Examples of volunteer activities include: help with Reuse Fairs & the9 w" H5 ~$ `1 I
Reuse Centre; helping friends/neighbours with composting problems;/ v9 o2 H. k6 M4 A# d' u
public education display booths; assisting with programs and' Q! p; _4 }8 G, ^ _
maintenance at the City Compost Education Centres; assisting at
# ^, J& L8 U" ]3 [, Ovarious demonstration gardens and general public and school
$ i& S* q) P3 j( a9 k6 H3 ~presentations.

9 \/ D8 c" v( pThere are many other opportunities for volunteers to contribute and
2 c5 F* Z) k& ~( b9 o2 A% Yvolunteers are able to choose the opportunities that interest them the
* j0 D5 m" k) Z5 Omost. Curious about recycling and composting and sharing your! a3 t4 _/ @, D3 |3 d
knowledge with others, then apply to become a Master3 k* B h# H) N y& @' D
