A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.1 q/ R! ~% s* N4 z8 j' R
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and+ C1 {& E. F0 L& o9 r
knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.* e. T/ `: i, C1 r" p
The program includes the following elements:, A( @' u6 v/ O0 j W) n! w
• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)
3 O2 S7 m. {7 D, \8 Q! l' e• Standard Child Care First Aid/ L. A6 k; w( S0 d& a* d# ^6 U
• WHMIS
* b: ?8 N% a# \+ v s• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care
% C0 q8 p' d4 Y5 @6 f% [• Components to improve communication skills# i3 G; G! A! ~: C
• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search
& ?0 B- O' S8 w• Practicum Placements- T6 \ E2 P+ Q: `5 Z
Eligibility Criteria5 |. M# C u H& A1 H4 E
• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen
( q# D( _8 v* x. n: }3 f+ Rof Canada& a. b! K+ U. Z+ i
• have a Social Insurance Number) q |8 S) J0 b" i3 b+ `
• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check
# U: }5 H$ ~& r• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent
* C+ K. S7 W1 R2 j8 [• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time4 ]* d1 q+ @% B- ?; T5 n

Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet- H4 I& S4 ]) {& f! U) \% G1 o
the following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:& b9 {) Y: G/ s& d, |& A9 i
• be unemployed or underemployed.# y0 @! X9 x; l
They CANNOT quit their job to take the course! m1 }. y) ?. S
• meet the financial eligibility criteria( Z& k8 k @# P7 m: \8 V4 T. x/ o
