A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.* Z& N) J- l; B5 J
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and9 ?4 U( V& N4 c' E( d1 S7 b! q
knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.( ]% M8 i& g7 @# I1 ~. P# X
The program includes the following elements:
^) x, U& T# F• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)
" ]6 }5 Q% s/ A& m3 Y# ^9 K• Standard Child Care First Aid
3 n# A! c9 P- l+ `/ e• WHMIS
" \: w* |' I5 i- B• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care
, f3 x: r, t! J' M• Components to improve communication skills
- \4 \, x5 [$ S" A! I1 n9 u• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search
* W8 P* \9 i2 m H4 E• Practicum Placements
$ Z8 I! M* L1 c6 vEligibility Criteria
- @' j8 e( z* J8 h: Y# G• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen
* u1 T7 W6 t& ]: Uof Canada+ J1 d' h* s/ ?: ?* {; u
• have a Social Insurance Number Q! V/ Q" u( a7 z+ a+ F1 t
• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check
8 [# R9 q8 L! ?; c+ W8 d5 m• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent
! u% h* M6 l8 w8 q: F. n, I( V+ m• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time: ?" C- c1 Y4 Z
program
G% e1 g: g, H dParticipants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet
* U& K, O# d9 \) K- Fthe following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:: b) b6 Y! u- d+ j, [
• be unemployed or underemployed.4 T9 t6 B# a7 A1 q) `
They CANNOT quit their job to take the course1 X% ?( ^# N/ R) Y t: E
• meet the financial eligibility criteria9 p" G/ u, g: o
