Duties, J' S$ ?' J- X6 l. b* H W) {
, g4 D9 p B) j$ Y: K+ ?- w
* Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications! O, [5 z. k! I# q! O$ q/ V1 N1 a* j1 a
* Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis
# m+ l; d! r; X( v$ e! B * Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
2 S( t/ q7 d, R' X * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students
3 F" x/ P8 h7 l * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies
4 f$ u( D. f% r; S" k4 [ ? * Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs
3 z( |3 c. z7 Z8 Y * Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment

* Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred5 b- k4 e6 Z# R4 a
