Duties

* Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications$ y) i% `3 k. s# i5 l" w# N; x5 L
* Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis+ w8 h0 }! A* O. F, l& R
* Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance f. B7 u; [9 h( _
* Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students

X) x" \7 t9 g * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies {! `7 \( o. i' m) t
* Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs9 j$ h i3 p! C9 }
* Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment

Qualifications
# i- M7 Q3 R5 F6 G2 s7 A+ l3 w) k, X4 r
* Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred
6 U m! K. \1 c * Minimum of one year of related experience in some aspect of analytical mass spectrometry is required# M& n) F; y: P% q0 R- f. C* A
