Duties

. [( P) z% e; p * Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications
: V' I! s; Y! I) H * Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis
7 O5 e; e( g; x! K2 d: A- n+ D4 o * Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
4 p+ T) F: r2 `# L/ b, x * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students
% ?3 O) D+ G) r1 o" z7 B! L: f * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies6 ?. J6 I/ f3 C. W2 M3 z. ?
* Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs, ?$ y2 ?( |6 k4 E! _& `
* Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment

* Minimum of one year of related experience in some aspect of analytical mass spectrometry is required
